I ride with a group at times and I do the wheelies all the time, skids, power slides, trail braking, hill jumping, well whatever most conservative riders call dangerous. I'm either way in front or in the back to have them not feel invaded on or unsafe.

The only thing I don't do now is ride hard to show anyone up because I've seen too many riders go down behind me from that and that feeling... sucks.

I think the claims here about censorship are a bit exaggerated. If you've been in a topic on Fireblades that was closed, then most likely you were writing about stunting or were extensively writing personal attacks against another member. If you were to view a thousand threads, one or two might be locked. There are plenty of threads that turn heated and even personal in disagreement, yet the thread lives on. Unfortunately, unless you're a member, you won't have access to the forums in which those debates occur. Personally, I'd like to think that the moderation over there keeps the threads civil AND lively.

Regarding stunting, it has been given such a bad rap over there because the majority of those who stunt pull their wheelies on crowded highways. As I wrote, the majority of the time I was approached at a gas-station, the conversation started off with something like, "You're not one of those riders out there riding wheelies, are you?" Whether or not you support or condemn stunting, I would have to think that we could all agree that it hurts the reputation of sportbikes in general when it's done on the public roads. So does all riding that risks other people's lives for that matter, right?

And pip - I wonder if you were trying to get banned from that board. Every other word was an attack or challenge, wouldn't you agree? You only need to look at your recent "lets fuel this fire pain aint shit, bring it on" remark -- that seemed to be your attitude over there. This comes from someone who has zero-interest vested in whatever debate is going on between that board and this one.

Personally, I get more requests to do a wheelies than I do people asking me if I was the one they saw assing off.

From who...soccer-moms who will file complaints with the police? I got them too, but most of the time they were from kids racing around in 80hp Civics.

I don't believe this "reputation" that everyone is complaining is as important as they think. If you are a safe rider, and don't preform any of the "stunter" actions, then good for you. Your safe riding style probably betters this "reputation" to those that would be so inclined to judge? So, I maybe if more people "stunt", the better I would look because I don't that kind of stuff?

The thing that is trying to be said is that all good fun in all the right spots.

I had a prime example of that on my way to work today.
I came out onto the main 25mph drag and a car with a guy and a girl in it gave me a smile and a wave which to me was as BK said as the invite to produce a smile and I did just that and didn't even break the speed limit past the local flex range of approx. 32mph.
NoOne else was around on the road but that one car in front of me and the two had a BIG 'ol smile on for the Salute I performed.

All in good fun and no harm with no foul.

What you've described is a better example of when playing around is going to be ok. What I was talking about was stunting on open highways with lots of cars around you. I never had a problem with buddies doing stand-ups down the country roads we road. What I didn't like was seeing riders pull one between two cars on the highway. See my point?

You don't want to generalize here anymore than you want me to. :) I never said stunting was dumb. What I said what that it has gotten a bad rap over on Fireblades because of the group of people you've desribed - those who endanger other drivers on public roads.

I road with a pack of bikes one time and we pulled over on a 2-mile straight that wasn't traveled. I spent about 30 minutes watching a few of the guys stunt. It was impressive. The point is - they took it where they weren't going to be risking other drivers OR the reputation of sportbikers in general. In the same regard, I saved my most aggressive riding for roads that seldom saw cars.

I say "saved" because I sold my bike this Spring!

The question still stands and I hope to see it answered today. Does pip's attitude reflect the board? When questioned or confronted with your own posts, is tossing out keyboard threats and challenges to be expected here? It's an honest question.

Pips atttitude does not reflect the general attitude of this board, if you want to get the general feel for our forums read some of the posts and you will see that Pip acts on his own level by himself all the time. Sometimes its funny and the rest of the time I am left scratching my head. As to your other qusetion people here will stand up for what they beleive in when confronted but in most cases that sparks a healthy debate. From time to time it does get carried away but there are no forums where this does not happen. In most cases people here will go out of their way to help others and answer questions. Well, consider what brought me here. Pip gets banned because he posted over there the same way he's posting to me here. I check this site and many people flame Fireblades for "censorship". I've been a member of that site for three years and have seen maybe a handful of people banned, and probably 10-12 threads locked. Fireblades doesn't tolerate posting the way pip does. So I come here and point out that perhaps pip was trying to be banned because he was posting so aggressively, and he responds with threats and more of what got him banned in the first place.

So, if Fireblades is considered BS because of their moderation of people like pip, my question is, does he represent the norm at this site, which boasts an uncensored domain? See my point now? :wink: From that, wouldn't it be logical to assume that a lack of responses indicates that either members aren't seeing my question OR they support pip's antics?

I can at least appreciate seeing a Moderator agree that Internet heroics can stunt the growth of a board.

No, I'm not a moderator. See my previous post. LIke I said, I've seen only a handful of posts locked in my tenure over there. Fireblades used to have a Stunting section but the majority of the members there didn't want it. You can't call moderation communism. The Admin of the site chooses not to support stunting-talk on his site, and he has clearly outlined that in the rules to join. Any other moderation would be related to incessant flamers such as pip. That of course is not censorship, but cvility. If he talked that way to all of his peers, he'd be booted from his college class, fired from his office-job, arrested in public, etc. Make sense? Fireblades has thousands of members, so you'd have to agree that they're doing something that attracts fellow riders, right?

I'll probably continue to lurk for a bit, but I don't plan on making a stay at the board. Thanks for the conversation, and kindly delete my account. Good luck to you and your board. :)

really? maybe for some..I lost 3 friends on the highway,another almost lost his arm had it put back on and has no rist movement and he just picked up a 1000rr and he still blazes,another lost his knee and hes considering cutting off the lower half of his leg and fitting it with a fake one so he can get back on the road,I seen it all and still ride fast,riding is a way of life for me and my crew,you think im talking shit? I got video of shit you couldnt even imagine,the type of shit that I talk about and people call me a squid because they think its all bullshit,Im for real and so is my crew!!!..the only thing that made me tone it down just a little bit is my wife being 8 months pregnant and I still topped my 1000 out for a few miles last night and took a few sweepers at 140,I have too!! im not riding unless im doing over 120 even if its on the way to the beach(no traffic)..there a differnce between know what your doing and not..for some squid with no riding time under his belt to go out and buy a 1000 and then ride it like a nut is nut plain stupid..I been riding sport bike since 1987 ,16 years old on a brand new gixxer 750!! so for me to go out and blaze 150 + in the turns is nothing but a everyday thing because I been doing it since I was 23 on my zx-7..and im even faster on the track :wink:

I'd view dangerous knee-dragging on crowded streets to be the same as stunting on them - it risks other drivers and they'll view us as a danger. Done away from the public keeps the risk down to you alone. I hope that's where you are riding. And if you're going to risk your life as you claim to be doing, then at least give your life to Christ first. You don't get the chance to do so when you're dead! :o
