The best advise I can give is if it bolts torwar the ground and the rear is looking at the sky let off the brake. Ask 2K hes the man for endos

First of all I am not telling you to do this but here is what I do and how I learned it. If you try this after I am telling you not to and you wreck its your own damn fault. I am serious do not try this ok.............

What I did Is I started from 30mph with warm tires as I start my shit I hit the brake hard enough to compress the forks and as the forks become fully compressed I gradually apply more brake untill the rear end becomes lite and at that point any additional modulation of the brake will lifts me up. Things I look out for is keeping myself square to the bike with my shoulders and arms straight, I pop the bike into neutral to keep the nasty chain clank from happening and as I got better hitting the rear brake and stoping the back tire while in the air had the same effect. The best way I found to get started is I went out and and did 30 hard stops from 30mph and progressivly added more and more brake untill I got used to the feel of the rear end comming up. I started of with 1ft high stoppies and worked my way up from there. To rol the stoppie I am constantly modulating the brake so I dont go over but I dont let the rear tire loose height. Contrary to poular belief the slower the stoppie the more dangerous it is because the bike will endo and thats how the bike has a tendancy to loop or come down crooked and fall over to the side. As a beginer I did not want to do an Endo I wanted to roll and still have enough speed to let off the brake and ride out of the trick. Once I had this down I started working on actually bringing the bike to a stop or (Endo). The most common causes of tank slappers in a stoppie are not being square to the bike and allowing the forks to decompress while in the air. When I was decompressing to early I had to adjust the rebound on the forks. I always took baby steps and never allowed myself to get ahead of my own skill. One trick I know of to get more distance is to let off the throtle to compress the forks and immediatly get on the brake and into the stoppie. My distace stoppies came from rolling in the ballance point with virtually no brake (VERY DANGEROUS).

Again now that you have read this you understand what I did to learn and this may not be right for anyone but me so dont do this, if you want to learn to do this trick find a professional school and take instruction from them........

There seems to be two stunts that people get hurt on the most, one is standing up on the tank and the second is this one. I do small stoppies, I dont have a desire to do long ones. 2K I suspect that this stunt is just like doing anything else, Be smooth :!: Is this right :?: 8)

Being smooth is always cruitial in everyhting you do with a motorcycle. Yes sudden movements and jerky movements are dangerous thats why doing slow stoppies are not a good idea because just like your car lurches after a hard stop your bike does too and if it does that while you are way up there your going over.

Get a race take off on the front. Those tires make all the difference when learning stoppies. They grip damn near anywhere......they dont skid like the stock tires.

I disagree for two reasons.
1. Take offs have already used their heat cycles and dont grab as intended anymore
2. Race compounds that are no warm enough are like skates.

I know lots of pro stunters like Thew Blaknkstrom 1096, Matt Gorka 1096 and Joe Brown XXXtreme and none of them use race takeoffs on their 700" plus stoppies.

I havent had any problem with skidding since i got mine.......and i pull the brake around 60-70 mph......it grips everywhere....my stock tire skid all the time. Plus i only payed $40 for the race takeoff.

I hear really good things about the battleax stock 954 tire I dont remember the model number though. I prefer 208's and alot of the big dogs are using Michilin Pilots

2K2's method sounds a little better than mine.
I learned by getting up to about 35 or 40 mph. Then while minding my own business I had some old fucker in a 1980 something Caddilac pull out from between two parked cars, about 100 foot in front of me. The mo fo looked right at me, and gunned it, in an attempt to get across my lane before I became part of General Motors.

Well I learned all about Endo's and Stoppies and Caddilac's in about three seconds which seemed more like two munites. I didn't crash but It was very, VERY close. I didn't know they made a 65 foot long Caddilac but I seen one.
