: Haing trouble getting a 02 cbr f4i up
YellowCBRracer 06-12-2004, 09:41 PM I have been praticing wheeling on my 02 cbr f4i because I dont want to wait tell I am really good on my 1000rr. It is the hardest thing to throttle up. I can get it about a foot. One of my buddies who is really good at wheelies tried it on mine. He got it up between 2-3ft and said it was a bitch just to get it that High. I was wondering if the 02 cbr f4i is known for having trouble throttling up? Also do you think it woudl be a good idea to try to clutch it? I I have never clutched a wheelie. Do you just get it up to about 5k rpms, pullin in the clutch, give it some gas, then drop the clutch all in less than a second?? ?
Anonymous 06-13-2004, 08:19 AM is suggests thats yous clutchs thes bikes ups becauses its certainlys nots bigs ons powers
Anonymous 06-13-2004, 10:04 AM You should always use the clutch......
YellowCBRracer 06-13-2004, 10:31 AM Why should you always use the clutch? and is the way I thought to use the clutch the right way to do it?

Anonymous 06-13-2004, 05:36 PM You should use the clutch because you will never generate the power you get clutching trying to throttle your bike. I know lots of peole that rock the shit out of F4's and they have no trouble hittin wheelies because they clutch it up.
Oh never just dump your clutch unless you like looking at the sky from your back. You will have to find the right RPM for you and ride the clutch out......
4passin 06-15-2004, 09:59 AM You should totally be able to throttle the bike up in first. I had a 94 F2 that would comeup.
You are probably sitting too close to the tank, scoot your ass back to the passenger seat. Come up on the throttle like normal, when the RPM's hit about 7K momentarily close the throttle, and when the forks start to rebound (come up) open the throttle all the way. the bike will start to come up. To help it get up, lean back and work the balance angle.
This is very hard on the tranny, but my bike had 16K
Now for clutching it takes a lot more parctice in first cause things can get shitty quick. Just take it slow. I never had a problem doing throttle wheelies so I never used the clutch.
On the 954 you cna use the clutch in 2nd, it's real smooth. I just pull up to about 40 in second, then squeeze clutch redline bike, and dump. It will come right up. Now it takes practice, cause you don't want to really be on the redline, you wnat to be up there around 10Krpm and release. If you catch it on the redline the bike wigs out becasue the ignition is being cut so you don't get the power you would want. Again don't hump the tank, slide back in the seat, it makes it easier for the bike to come up.
Clutching is much easier on the trans as the friction plates take some of the abuse. you will go through clutches faster but, that's what they are there to do.
wear all your gear while you practice too.
Anonymous 06-15-2004, 10:08 AM Throttle wheelies only allow you to go fast or do power wheelies.... I like the slow shit..
4passin 06-15-2004, 07:56 PM once you get it up there, you ned to lean back and you can close the throttle to about 1/4 turn....
It's all in the balance point that you create by leaning back.
OutOfControl954 06-17-2004, 08:17 PM You should always use the clutch......
Anonymous 06-18-2004, 03:32 AM revolutions per minute
its already plural, and no, it does not own anything
YellowCBRracer 06-26-2004, 06:35 PM UPDATE: I have been practicing clutching it and it is going real good.
What speed do you guys recommened practicing at? I have been going about 15mph does that sound like a good speed?
OutOfControl954 06-28-2004, 05:09 PM I NEVER wheelie in first gear.....well only on tank wheelies. Use second its safer
YellowCBRracer 06-30-2004, 09:08 PM I tried getting the bike up in 2nd and it was a bitch to get it up 2 inches. Why is it better to do wheelies in 2nd gear?
gntbldr 06-30-2004, 09:18 PM less sensitive. less chance of overdoing it.
Anonymous 06-30-2004, 10:18 PM The flip side to 2nd gear wheelies is less power to pull up but in my eyes worse yet your wheelies are going to be done at much higher speeds.......
YellowCBRracer 07-01-2004, 06:30 PM I want to learn how to do them at like 15mph. So wouldnt it be best to try them in 1st gear?
adrenalinjunkee 07-02-2004, 12:39 AM I want to learn how to do them at like 15mph. So wouldnt it be best to try them in 1st gear?
If you want to do them @ 15 mph... get a 70 tooth sprocket, or just practice clutching it up!
YellowCBRracer 07-02-2004, 04:06 PM adrenalinjunkee read all the post before you try and act like a smart ass. If you would have read all the post you would have noticed we were talking about using the clutch.............just learn to pay attention
Anonymous 07-02-2004, 05:10 PM Is this the only fukin topic in here or what????
Lets find some new shit to discuss.......
adrenalinjunkee 07-07-2004, 10:40 PM I'm just not comprehending the reason for doing a 15 mph wheelie. Do you live in an "URBAN" area? Wheelies are much safer at higher speed in higher gears due to the mechanical disadvantage. ie: less twitchy with throttle. Besides... the 4Fi is more than capable of throttle wheelies at 60 miles an hour. The point... no need to clutch it, just work on throttle control and engine rpm, and practice.
I shall refrain from comment about the "Smart Ass" reference.
