maybe one tooth down in the rear would give it more top speed..

The shift light's style (steady, slow-flash, fast-flash) and brightness can be set, as well as what RPM it comes on at.

Summarized from the manual - page 36:

1. Press and hold the SEL button, then turn on the ignition. Keep the SEL button pressed until the initial display/tach needle sweep completes. Release the SEL button. The tach needle should be at the current position where the shift light will come on.

2. Press the RESET button to set the rpm range. When you have the desired RPM selected, press the SEL to complete.

To set the shift light brightness:
1. Complete steps 1 & 2 above, or do step 1 above then press SEL.
2. Press the RESET button repeatedly to cycle through the various shift-light styles/intensities. Press SEL to complete.

After both these operations - you must turn the ignition off to save the changes.

I had 189 INDICATED yesterday

mine was 185 hitting off limiter..maybe the profile of my Pilot Powers changed the gearing..did you check you speedo(recall)to see if its reading right?

Yeah, my bike was not included in the recall, but I check every time I ride
