: new mods to the 1000RR
Da1000RRStuna 06-13-2004, 09:23 PM I did a few little things to the 1000RR..
these mods are old tricks to try and get more out of your bike..
I did this the air filter trick to my stock ait filter on my 954 and the air valve trick my boy at NY Honda told me about,he use to do it on RC51's for more mid HP..
I didnt take pics of the air valve but its pretty simple mod, just plug that hose the lead to the valve and if you like remove the canister it runs to and zip tie the plug that plugs into it to something..
heres a few pics of the air filter mod
http://images.snapfish.com/33%3A%3A3%3A%3A723232%7Ffp45%3Dot%3E2329 %3D7%3A6%3D9%3A%3A%3DXROQDF%3E2323559%3B %3B%3B%3A79ot1lsi
with the wire mesh ripped off

I used a hot glue gun to seal up the edges, theres little pieces of wire stuck in there so I used the glue to seal it up nice.

Da1000RRStuna 06-14-2004, 06:16 PM and if you read back a little bit when I didnt my pipe or suspension I posted a comment about the valve mod and that was back in May not April 7th..so yeah you just got around to doing it first..the air fitler mod is old news, did that back in 2002 on my 954..
Anonymous 06-14-2004, 06:20 PM I think you should both lick my ass hole because I though of that shit back when I invented the motorcycle.

By-Tor 06-14-2004, 07:59 PM Hey Stuna, dont even think about posting pics of your next oil change, cause changin oil was my Idea :D
Da1000RRStuna 06-14-2004, 08:27 PM wait a minute!! you think it was ok for me to post pics wearing the gloves?

sad thing is ,he join the board just to make that statement, fucking sad aint it?..I wonder what little bitch ass ran off to tell him I was using this idea as my own :?
Actually we did the air filter mod on the RC51 back in 2000 not 2002 on a 954.
http://www.rc51.org/airf.htm
So who's hunting for glory by reposting their own pics as if they taught someone how to do something? I have never requried a pat on the back for any of the info that I have provided or shared from other sources & I always give credit where it is due.
You talk about knowing all the tricks, but how many ECU's have you put on an oscilloscope to map out the variances between regions? You got a black box that reports a consistent engine temp to the ECU to disable the auto-enrichening function? Trust me we know the real scoop on getting the most out of the stock ECU's & we have even built our own MOTEC system starting from scratch. If you want to compare penis size by achievements in the industry then let's go. I've got a long list that stretches far beyond the simple stuff we post on the websites for everyone to see.
Anyway, whatever man... this is your sandbox.
gntbldr 06-15-2004, 10:18 AM not too much true shit sincerely meant IMO with all the shit... some are still edgy from being pissed on by whom they call rivals.
on a different note:
I'm glad you posted up your stuff LDH because you were kind enough to share another source of knowledge for whomever needs to find it. and btw,... hahaha  welcome to the forum ;)

If you are interested in detailed info on exhausts, race fuels vs pump gas, the truth about K&N filters & dyno tuning etc... we have some no BS write-ups on my RC site. You gotta filter out some of the RC specific info on some of them, but the overall scope of the info rings true.
Just go to the mods page & have a look around

The new site we are working on for CBR1000RR mods is at http://www.rogueracing.org/1000rr.htm
gntbldr 06-15-2004, 10:42 AM right on, thanks..
funny thing is if you would have just did exactly what you did with this post you would have had a warmer welcome from this thread's owner. teeheehe
wouldn't ya say so Stuna...?
Da1000RRStuna 06-15-2004, 11:37 AM whats your point?I never read or visited the RC51 forums, never owned one..anyway!! you own a 1000rr and so do I,we both ride them and we both like adding mods and doing what we can to make them faster and better, lets keep sharing info, updates and mods  even if we both have are own views on whats best..
I was just saying I did these mods alreay knowing before you posted them on 1000rr.net..your not the only big fish in the sea..dont offence to the comments we are just braking balls :D
lets put are differences to the side and welcome to the board!!
this sandbox is for everyone..it hold plenty just make sure not to touch GNT's bucket and shovel :D
Da1000RRStuna 06-15-2004, 12:11 PM well fill us in!!! what was the out come of playing with the ECU?did you get a chance to mess with the 1000RR? whats the benafits?
I was talking to some old scool bikes mechanics that told me about a little trick they did on someoned gixxer 1000,they took a extra air sensor the sits in the airbox and relocated it out side the box for cooler air to hit it,they said it made the bike run more crisp and the bikes they done it to the owner couldnt believe the difference on how the bike ran...
I didnt do it or plan on it..you ever heard of anything like that..?
what do we actually gain by doing this mod???
Da1000RRStuna 06-15-2004, 07:17 PM I have no idea  ..gotta ride it first and see..I guessing more HP..the motor will get a lil bit more air by ripping the screans off and the flapper valve is good for a 1-2 more HP mid range..I really dont thinks doing either one of these mods is going to make a major difference but I was bored and had nothing better to do,
just like add a K&N to your car wakes it up a little bit so should this filter mod..I didnt ride the bike yet or run it against another 1000rr..
try them out and let us know how the bike respones
Da1000RRStuna 06-16-2004, 01:40 AM I plan on it..
i took my shit in for the six hundred mile service and they said they woudl baseline my bike on the dyno to see what a RR really puts down. so far i havent really got on my bike hard. so in a few days ill post up what my RR puts down. i do realize that there are so many different variations to dyno runs and they usually dont mean shit but its more about the bragging rights in away.
if these mods look good i may try them and then have them run it with those mods to see what it gains
Anonymous 06-16-2004, 05:00 PM Pip im not going to edit your shit all the time bro..no need for that type of talk..your not going to wreck every thread posted with your bullshit
thx
stuna
Da1000RRStuna 06-17-2004, 10:19 AM the mods didnt hurt any, bike feels fines..it throttles up in the lower rpm a lil easyer..
snapping the throttle at 4000 prm big seems to jump of the ground pretty nice,
2nd throttle comes up alil bit easyer now also..unless its all in my head  the bike runs good..
woudl it be better just ot buy the K&N if they make one for the RR in stead of doign the fitler mod?
Da1000RRStuna 06-17-2004, 11:59 AM no..your better off doing the mod and saving a few $..
Anonymous 06-17-2004, 03:34 PM if someones being a whiny bitch ill say so, dont moderate my shit
GeNeRaL 06-17-2004, 03:54 PM if someones being a whiny bitch ill say so, dont moderate my shit
Stop being a whiny bitch.
:) you know i had to...couldn't pass it up lol
Anonymous 06-18-2004, 07:54 AM i went to that wankers website, you have to pay to join, hahahahahahahahahahha
i mean, good on ya if you can get people to line your pockets, but if you ever asked me in person to join your site and said i had to pay for it id probably spit on you
yer right i am being a whiny bitch im going to work
seacrest, OUT!
so its not worth the money for a K&N filter on the RR. i got K&N on every ride i own and have owned. but if i get one for the RR do i have to get a PPIII and remap it? if i go that route i might as well get a pipe
Da1000RRStuna 06-18-2004, 10:09 AM you can get K&N and try it out..its only gonna cost you about $60,right?
I never used a PC3,my bikes all ran fine with out it,I like to road test my stuff..you know, run the bike agains another before and after adding a mod since I dont have a dyno in my garage and its cost nothing but a few $ in gas :D
Butter Bean 06-18-2004, 11:57 AM Stuna is this the line that you plugged up to do this mod on your 54.
left side of bike between the airbox and the frame.

Da1000RRStuna 06-18-2004, 12:27 PM no fool..im talking about my 1000r  r..no hole need to get plugged on the 954..
Butter Bean 06-18-2004, 02:14 PM I did this the air filter trick to my stock ait filter on my 954 and the air valve trick my boy at NY Honda told me about,he use to do it on RC51's for more mid HP..
so the air valve trick is only for the 1000 I thought you said you did it on your 954. OK thanks
Da1000RRStuna 06-18-2004, 03:01 PM I was talking about the airfilter..theres a mess/metal screen on it,I used a screw driver and popped it off,its held on by 4 little plastic tabs..
do you have a full exhaust?
Butter Bean 06-18-2004, 03:38 PM Not yet.
Da1000RRStuna 06-18-2004, 04:41 PM well if you want you can tuck that flapper in the air box down under the rubber air intakes right infront of it and pop the mesh screen off the air filter and once you get your full pipe you can removed the echaust valve cables..
Butter Bean 06-18-2004, 05:09 PM I already tried that but it made my FI light come on so I put it back to stock and the light went away. When I get my full exhaust I will also get the ram air, air box so I don't think I'll have to worry about the flapper anymore. I thought I'd try because it seemed to be a quick and easy mod, I didn't realize you were talking about the 1000.
Da1000RRStuna 06-18-2004, 06:40 PM you can push down that flap and leave the cable, the light wont come on..I had the same prob..
Butter Bean 06-18-2004, 10:14 PM Ok I'll try that
resuscit8u 06-19-2004, 12:17 PM I frequent 1000rr.net and LDH is a moderator there. He knows his stuff about these bikes, that is for sure. Everyone should run over there and check out his flapper mod for 1000RR. Very simple mod and everyone that has done it seems to be thrilled wioth the results.
I have done the flapper mod and the mesh removal on my 954RR and I will be doing it to my 1000RR as well. All research (including Erion Racing) shows the stock filters without mesh flow better than the K&N and the other one, can't remember the name of it though.
Da1000RRStuna 06-19-2004, 01:50 PM stock filters without mesh flow better than the K&N and the other one, can't remember the name of it though.
I know I heard about and read about it just cant remember, but the road test prove it right..stock filter work great..
Butter Bean 06-19-2004, 09:49 PM So the trick to the flapper mod is to tuck the flapper down, but to detatch the cable from the flapper so it will function normally and the FI light will not come on.
Da1000RRStuna 06-20-2004, 12:39 AM just tuck it and leave the cable, removing it aint going to make a difference..
