I know this was covered a few lines down, but has anyone found the real anwser?
It gets worse when the engine is under a load and when hot, so I don't see how it can be the injectors. And we all know that the Stealer is going to say it's normal, because if it wasn't it would be warranty? Thanks

you guys have a valid point.
The only thing I can say is that I felt the same way when I had my 2 954's and was told that the ticking was normal and even the guys with higher miles on their bikes have the same sound coming from the top center of their motors.
And I have yet to hear of any failures or warranty work done in result of the ticking getting worse.
The ticking also sounded the same with different oil viscosities that were tried to quiet the tick with heavier oil or lube the the tick with lighter oil (if it was an oil starvation issue)

Yes! I was pissed to have heard that it was normal.
and Yes! I was expecting the stealers to say what was said... that it's "normal" and "ok".

Headphones and a mp3 player took care of my ticking sound...

I know.. I know.. not what you wanted to hear. and if either of you hear any different Please let us all know right away so we can share what is to be known.

im kinda getting used to the ticking. but what i dont like is the noise i hear in sixth gear at around 4400 rpms at around 70mph. the noise is horrille from 4400 rpms to 5900rpms then it quits. its loud and annoying. sounds like a severe vibration bike doesnt seem to have lose of power and this is only when im cruising on highway then give it full throttle or part throtte. i have not other problems with noise in any other gear only sixth gear at those rpms

anyone else hear this noise

from what you just described I'd be willing to bet that is an after effect of the intake and exhaust valves and may just be eliminated by a full system and some of the mods in the "new mods to the 1000" post by Stuna...
