: Wrecked My Bike Today!
By-Tor 06-27-2004, 07:20 PM Stupid me decided to go out on my old tires one more time before having my new M-1s installed next week. Long story short, My front tycked at about 85mph and I low sided thStupid me decided that I would go out 1 more time on my tires before having my new M-1s rough a ditch and up an embankment. When I stopped I found myself burried in thatch and prickers. My visor was missing from my helmet, mouth full of dirt and I bit my tongue. Then I heard my brother go bye. I tried to pull myself from the bushes but both shoulders were out of joint. I got the left one back in position and rolled myself over and slid to the bottom of the ditch. I knew things were not good for the right one. I tried to put weight on it and I felt the ball at the top of the arm pushing on the skin about 2 inches from my nipple. My bicept was a blob of meat bunched up under my shoulder. I got up , crossed the road, wrestled the top off of my suit and headed for a tree. I grabed a low branch and pulled as hard as I could but it would not go into joint. By now 10 minutes had gone bye and my brother had not turned around. I walked back across the road to get my cell phone from my bike and to my surprise, I coould not find it. The thatch had swallowed it whole and all that was left was a mirror. 15 minutes after this my brother returnes and almost didnt see me. He tugged on my arm and no luck. No cell service but a car came allong and went to call for an ambulance. My brother says my bike is totally fucked and it was upside down in the bushes, stopped by a rock wall , luckilly I didnt slide that far! Ambulance comes and it is 30 minutes to the hospital. Shoulder is back in joint, no broken bones, not a scratch thanks to full race gear. Now I have to see a doctor to see if I need any surgery. I will be back on a bike and hopefully sooner than later. Any suggestions on how to get max dollar from the insurance company for my bike? Sure woould like to get a 1000rr out of all this.
Da1000RRStuna 06-27-2004, 08:02 PM thats my BOY!!!
sorry about the bike and glad your ok
now why would you go riding like that with shot tires?
fukinnuts 06-27-2004, 08:50 PM Sorry to hear. Hope recovery is quick and you make out on insurance. At least you were wearing your gear.

By-Tor 06-27-2004, 11:08 PM now why would you go riding like that with shot tires?
Didnt plan on going hard, but then couldnt help myself. In other words, Pure Stupidity. I'll try to go get the bike from the garage that towed itwithin the next couple of days. Havnt seen it yet but my brother says its pretty ugly. If I could have gotten my shoulder in place, I would have ridden home Bitch back with my brother, reported the bike stolen, and went back for it later in the week To eBay the surviving parts. That shit was so far in the brush that the cop didnt even see it. Oh well. At least the trooper on the scene was cool and didnt even give me a ticket. I'll have to tell the insurance company that I hit sand or some shit. The bike is like 1.5 hours from my house so if I can hook up my trailer, I'll go get it. Hope I get my check soon  So really, what steps should I take to get max $s out of this. I need a new bike
Anonymous 06-28-2004, 06:43 AM did you fuck that wall up nigga?

at least yer alive to complain about it
Anonymous 06-28-2004, 06:46 AM glad to hear your ok, sorry to hear about the 54, man I think you want that 1000 just a little more than me.
Just playing man. :D
By-Tor 06-28-2004, 08:16 AM I'll have my wife take some pics of the bruise where the ball at the end of my arm tried to punch a hole through my chest. Will definitely post pics of the bike. My arm is feeling better today and I see the doctor at 2:30. Hopefully there is not too much ligament or muscle damage. I need to get back to work ASAP. Would love a 1000 but would like to take my insurance money and buy a used 954 and continue making payments on the wrecked bike.
Truck 06-28-2004, 02:51 PM Ouch :!: Im out of the hospital now and I can sympathize with the injuries bro. I hope that things work out well with the insurance co.
By-Tor 06-28-2004, 03:23 PM Looks like I tore a tenden which took a bone chip with it :x . Im going for an MRI tomorrow and surgery seems to be the solution. Looks like i'll be closing down shop for a pretty long time. Might take the time to go back to school and stop the self employed thing. So I guess accidents can be life altering experiences. One things for sure, Cant Wait To Get Back On Two Wheels. Any career suggestions? I need to figure out what to do pretty soon.
gntbldr 06-28-2004, 03:25 PM :ouch: :!:
Truck 06-28-2004, 07:40 PM Any career suggestions?
You could try a test rider like turbo  Maybee even get a free bike out of it too :!: :D
By-Tor 07-02-2004, 08:31 AM Well I'm going in for surgery on Friday the 9th. I tore my bicept tendon clean off, rotator cuff damage, severe ligament damage, massive soft tissue damage, large amounts of displaced fluids, fracture at top of humurous bone. Ill have two operations at one time. One to repair the damage from my wreck, and one to repair pre existing damage. My brother quit his job and has stepped in to keep my business going. Cant even put into words how much I appreciate that. The insurance adjuster is comming to look at the bike on Wed the 7th. I just want the bike fixed so I can ride when I heal.
Butter Bean 07-02-2004, 09:20 AM Good Luck!

gntbldr 07-02-2004, 01:10 PM Till I'm better i'll live vicariously through ya'll 8)
then you must have had an awesome morning so far because starting out the day I rode my klr to work and have gotten to a new level in my coasting speeds in the corners and am less than 1.5" away from doing what everybody on the klr forums say is Impossible and that's grinding pegs.:D
she was a a super sensitve bitch at That lean angle I tell ya. I had given one corner a little throttle right before the apex to see how close I was to the breaking point and it was dirt track or super motard looking time with the back end trailing around with the front going forward  8) 8) 8)
here's a pic of an example of how far that bitch has to lean to get to where I was at on the road... I'm serious... it's a lot more of an intense feeling than being on the rr... and I am also railing the same corners with the klr as with the 954 and am doing them at almost a 1/4 to a 1/3 more velocity. :)

ohhh plus I'm doing this shit on knoobies  :P

gntbldr 07-07-2004, 10:44 AM Once you get back on a "real street bike" :? , you wont know what to do with all of that traction. Hope you have pucks on your elbows
that's funny ass shit! especially since the only person ever known (a european racer) to push the klr that hard did scrape his elbows. I wish there was some footage of that 'cause it'd be some wild ass shit to see!!!
when the time is right I'm asking B to take some 'burst' photos of a few proper leans so I can share them with yous and also some near twelves that I've been getting fairly decent at. :D
enough about me in Your thread By-Tor  :P  ... how's your situation going?
you get any pics of your wreckage? and also what's the status of your healing/surgey state?
you seem to have your wits and sense of humor about you so being laid up isn't nibbling on you it seems... :)
By-Tor 07-07-2004, 11:09 AM Just waiting for my session under the knife on Friday. I have been documenting the bruising on my arm ( it has spread half way down my forearm ) and took lots of pics of the bike. I will get them hosted this weekend and post them. My brother has pulled through in a huge way and is doing almost all of the work in my shop unasisted. Got to keep your wits up, I try not to take things too seriously, Your signature says it best Gnt. My wife and I agree that we dont want to wake up at 50 and say "I wish we would have....." I live for today because tomorrow might not come.
gntbldr 07-07-2004, 02:57 PM :) amen.
give a hearty Thanks to your bro from all of us for being there for you. That is a beautiful thing.
most of every trauma I've gone through I've had to get through by myself and when you get a caring person to help you by just being there for you it sure helps out!. eh. :)
Truck 07-08-2004, 10:28 AM Good luck with youre surgery there by-thore tommorow
By-Tor 07-08-2004, 11:31 AM Thanks Truck. Almost ripped my shoulder out again today :x . I just cant sit still, Not used to not working.
Truck 07-08-2004, 02:52 PM I know exactly what you mean, but if i hadnt been out doing what I wasnt supposed too then i might not have had to do this second surgery. Probably not it just wasnt healing but who knows
By-Tor 07-08-2004, 08:28 PM Got to be at the hospital at 6:00 AM tomorrow. Wish me luck. Time for a little conjugal visit with my wife then I'm hittin the hay. I'll drop in tomorrow.

By-Tor 07-09-2004, 04:00 PM I'm home now and pretty drugged up. Doctor told my wife the damage was worse than expected. I separated 4 out of 5 tendons in my shoulder. The doctor cant believe that I never took any of the pain killers that he prescribed to me. He said the pain should have been unbearable. Getting sleepy now, be back later.
Truck 07-09-2004, 04:19 PM Sleep well brother talk to you tommorow
gntbldr 07-09-2004, 04:37 PM zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
