: finally something I dont Like
Hammerdown 07-09-2004, 11:23 AM Last night it occured to me I now have a big issue with my CBR1000RR. I dont ride in shorts very often but last night was awsome so I figured what the hell. I didnt take long after the bike heated up that the design flaw slowly appeared. Every time I put my leg down at a light I would burn my calf on the right side trany cover. It happened so often I felt like a kid getting his hand slaped reaching into the cookie jar. I guess it will teach me not to ride in shorts, I hate to think what would happen if I didnt wear my helmet!
Da1000RRStuna 07-09-2004, 11:26 AM I rode is shorts a few times and I didnt have a problem..maybe your to short and you cant spread your legs to far apart..
Hammerdown 07-09-2004, 11:29 AM about 5'9" and 190lb. if thats the worst problem I'll be happy.
olderRR. 07-09-2004, 05:51 PM If you are riding in shorts, and your bike burns you, it's trying to tell you something.
PUT YOUR FUCKING GEAR ON DUMBASS!
Apparently, your bike knows, but you do not. Do you want to DIE??
I'm sorry. But you are not hurt. So I am telling you right fucking now. If you don't want to be seriously injured, and I'm not talking about a little FUCKING HOT SPOT ON YOUR CALF, THEN WEAR YOUR FUCKING GEAR. EVERYTIME you sit on your bike. And may your bike burn you every time you don't.
RIDERS WEAR THEIR GEAR. THAT'S IT.
You come on here expectinng sympathy or something for that? You have no clue, my friend. No clue.
Good luck. I seriously mean that.
resuscit8u 07-09-2004, 08:17 PM Sorry bro, but I agree.
What OlderRR said!
cbrjimmy1KRR 07-09-2004, 08:22 PM
BigRome 07-09-2004, 08:32 PM I agree I wore shorts once 3 years ago, just for a short run.The heat I felt then was enough to not want to do it again
gntbldr 07-09-2004, 11:27 PM I remeber that same thing on the 954... :x I was cleaning it after a run and sat it up to move it a little bit and I found out quick what I read a lot about in the old forum.
never really was able to ride the bike with less than jeans on from march till may and by then I had gotten some leathers because I knew how hard I rode that danged thing, if I went it'd be ugly  , so you can best believe I never took it around the neighborhood in my yard working shorts to warm up the chain before a cleaning and juicing.
I had some perforated joe rocket leathers and was glad I went with them instead of my jeans because they ran cooler than the jeans and I didn't feel the heat from the frame as much as with jeans if and when I wore them. Not to mention the added control being more tightly knit together with the bike. way more responsive to almost any movement and really came in handy when cut off on the freeway interchange and had to manuevering duhamel style.
wow... I should lay off the cafiene.
Da1000RRStuna 07-10-2004, 12:57 AM Older I think you was a little to hard on the guy :D ...shit even I dont wear all my gear on 90 degree days..I slap on some shorts and head to the park grab a ice cold Coke and watch the little bitches rollerblade while im kickin back with a smike  ,but I make sure not ride extra carefull and not brake 60mph..I think as long as hes wearing a helmet and not riding like a jerkoff its ok..but wearing your gear at all times is the smarter thing to do..
Truck 07-10-2004, 10:28 AM Older, I understand exactly where youre comming from. With what just happend to you I fully understand. I agree with you that you should wear gear everytime you ride. But I can tell you that I have many friends that rides harleys and have never been in a wreck. They ride slow and are always on the defencive. I have a friend that rides an R6 and he is a paramatic and he says he almost never goes to a wreck with a harley, cause they dont ride fast. He says 99.9 % of the time its a crotch rocket. Anyways all Im trying to say is that Maturity has to kick in and get the better of the call of the wild. Of course I fully understand that youre wife wasnt showing off and it still happend to her. Anyways you got a lot of healing to do. I agree with youre point of view TOTALY :!:
Peace
Anonymous 07-10-2004, 04:51 PM I am sorry but you call that a design flaw, sisnce when did they design bikes for people to ride them in shorts????????
Wear your gear...... Dude can where what he wantts but damn I must say that anyone without gear in my book is just plain stupid and especialy when they have families to support like my neighbor who wont wear a helmet, he just wrecked his Harley and still claims he wont wear gear when he has four kids and a wife to support.... That mentality is fucking selfish and stupid at the same time
olderRR. 07-10-2004, 06:27 PM Edited.......
If I offended, so be it. But I'd rather offend now than flame somebody AFTER they have been in an accident and lying all messed up in a hospital bed like some panzy ass-fuckers do.
Stuna... Whatever.
Da1000RRStuna 07-10-2004, 07:08 PM Stuna... Whatever.

so a little jaunt isnt all that bad but i wouldnt be wearing shorts, and no helmet
Da1000RRStuna 07-10-2004, 10:48 PM sorry but the guy on the race bike is not a pro!!! he has yellow background so that makes him a amateur  :D

Anonymous 07-11-2004, 01:04 AM That picture is great......
resuscit8u 07-11-2004, 09:31 AM I am with OlderRR.
But if you like physical therapy and skin grafts, then wear what you like. Skin is the largest organ of the body, and very important.
Truck 07-11-2004, 10:08 AM I will have to say that the older I get the more I value my skin. Now that Ive been down a couple of times, with and without gear I wear the gear.
olderRR. 07-11-2004, 02:31 PM Stuna... Whatever.
:D :D :D Just threw that in there!
I figured it would keep responses coming.
That's a great poster! Says exactly what I wanted to say. Hammer, I'm giving you shit because I don't want to hear about you all messed up. You have a very serious bike. Please take her seriously.
And Quick, how far you are from home does have alot to do with it. Do some research. MOST accidents happen within one half mile of home. Obviously! It's where we are most of the time. That's a piss poor excuse for being LAZY@!!!
Lori and I were two blocks from home. Her gear saved her life. That's all I can say to you guys. If you want to have fun for a LONG time, DRESS for the occasion.
Anonymous 07-11-2004, 03:24 PM MOST accidents happen within one half mile of home.
Then why not move two miles away??????
olderRR. 07-11-2004, 06:53 PM :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Hammerdown 07-12-2004, 11:25 AM Wow, did that forum take off. Further that I expected.
OlderRR I'm right their with ya when it come to wearing protective clothing. It ticks me off when I see some kid on his 600 weaving in and out of traffic with no gear at all on furthermore I'm all for helmet laws if it makes my insurance cheeper. To everyone else let me apoligise for not getting to the forum over the weekend to explain my self.
Where I was going with that post was almost a sarcastic tone, trying to say that this bike is so awsome I had to look hard to find fault. I guess my humor doesnt extend thru my fingers.
Riding dirt bikes as a kid and street bike for 13 years now the one thing I stress the most is "be Prepaired".
Hope that clears it up!
Nice poster General
olderRR. 07-12-2004, 02:03 PM Right on, HAMMER! Actually now that you've cleared it up, it really is pretty funny!
:D
