I've been riding for 5 years...yea, not that long but long enought to know better.
Less than a month after I got my 1000rr I was at the local Auto Zone looking for some bolts to mount my tags cause the cheapskates at the dealership didn't give me any. Well, they were resurfacing their parking lot so I parked on a slight incline and didn't put in in gear. You can see where this is going can't ya.
Anyway, right when I walked around the corner to go in the door another guy was leaving. He said, "Hey, is that your bike?" I was expecting him to say something like hey dude, that sweet. Nope, he said, "It just fell over." I was so freaking pissed...hadn't even made a payment and just barely got to 300 miles. When I looked, noone was around. It simply rolled right off the kickstand and fell over. The hill was very small as well.
Damage on the left side is pretty good. Broken clutch lever, lower is scratched, upper is scratched and torn underneith the blinker, rear is scratched and cracked, and the clutch lever broke in half. That damn clutch lever kept me from riding it for over a month because it was backordered at the factory (tried all the local and online shops).
Since I have liability only, I'm not going to fix the fairings. They aren't that bad but it's all easially noticable if you look at it.
I'd reccomend always putting the bike in gear when you park. Even if it's not on a hill. I think it's a good habit to get in.
At least I learned that I can pick my bike up by myself.
