went and picked up the motor today from forwardair and only had less than an hour to get a bunch done.
1st I switched the main jet in my klr and then I took off all the plastics and what not on the kan and am moments away from pulling out the motor. :D
that'll be tomorrow and also some pics then too.......

2 b cont.

here's what it looked like last year....

ok.... I finally got somewhere last night. been busier than... uhh... well, busy.
and if it wasn't for the klr this shiece of pit would be rockin already...

here's some pics of all the plastic after I gave them a washin...

and of my tight working quarters (half the two car garage that my landlord lets me use.
To the left of the bike in front of the crates is the motor that's being put in the front end-less skeleton strung up to the I beam hoist.
To the right of that is the motorcycle jack with the old motor on it and right of that is the new Avon to be put on the front with the forks playing hide and seek by the aluminum broom handle....

then a pic of the chain and sprockets and levers and mirrors and junk I have laying around the redneck garage... I mean hill billy garage ;)

now that it's all apart I have half a mind to clean it up and make it a real Purty bike.... not.
I'm just going to paint the plastics and save the strip down for the winter along with the klr so I can powdercoat the hell out of anything I can.

One things for sure ifn it aint purdy then youll more likely to ride the sheat out of her. And thatll be the one you dont wreck :D

gntbldr

that's fer sure.
every time I made my either of my NEW bikes special to me with whatever fancy add on something happened to tarnish it.
And when I got it to Just where I wanted it it looped.

Already had the thought of putting new grips on 'er and right after I thought of that I saw me doing something to tear up that nice new thingy I'd've put on 'er. so no new unnecessary things.

When do you think it'll be back on the road gnt? The sooner you get all those parts on the bike, the sooner you can clean up that garage

well, I have a bid on a set of adjustable forks for it since the stock ones are non adjustable or buildable much less. They don't even have top caps so I'd have to pull the bolt on the valve chamber through the bottom just to change the seals and the oil .
so them things are outta the question.

I finally have an adjustable rear shock though. the stocker had the threaded lock nuts for preload adjustment and zero comp. or rebound adj. the shock I have on there now at least has adjustable rebound which will be a nice addition to the bouncey bottomey machine I once knew as my kanatuna.
It'll be sweet as (put something witty here. ) as soon as it does get going.

soooo. I'm waiting on forks and the adjustable clipons I bought. then I'll drive it body-less till the lil woman gets done with then things. I still have no clue what she's going to do to it. one day it's flames next day it's fuscia.
Told her she can learn how to ride that thing and drive it to try and quench a thirst that she has for an sv650 or whatever...

gimme a week and three days.

going with the flames and some tribal mix... letting the lilladie pick it all out at this one custom kit place down in the city...

not on schedule as I thought before but am getting there.

finally got the forks put back together and it wasn't easy without the special tools..(uhh just had them put on order .. )
I was trying to get a set off of ebay but they were selling anywhere from150 to 250 for the set that have adjustable damping and rebound along with adjustable preload too.
since I'm not willing to foot that bill on this rat bike I increased the length of the internal spacer by an inch and bumped the oil weight from ten to like 12 or something (mixed 10 and 15 together).
I also put in a newer shock from a gixer in the rear and now I have the proper sag front and back.
Got the Avon on the front and a Duro on the back (harder rear for trailbraking  and sliding   :D )

and as you see I got the new to me motor back in.......

I had to do a hack job and weld a peice of square tubing on my cbr handy stand to make the universal pads I bought work on a level swingarm like on this Kan and also on my KLR. Found that using a strap over the rear seat to the stand did all I needed while I put the engine up and into the frame.. was able to really man handle the bike without any worry of it coming off the stand.

sooo if I don't get called into work anymore and whore myself out on the forum I should have the time to mount up the exhaust and clean the carbs and put in a stage 2 jet kit...

way better bike than last year. rebuilt the front suspension and increased the spacer lengths by an inch and a half. swithed out the rear shock to one with adj rebound. put new levers, mirrors, master cylinders, tires, chain and sprockets, motor, jet kit, directionals, ghetto paintjob, and gas.
avon on the front and a duro on the back... duro slides like a mofo while tha avon holds good even in slight gravel in the turns. can't wait to melt the tires down at track days. :) :D

Very stealthy. So how does the new motor run, is it strong? What tires are you runnin for your track day?
