Yo reversed,

I did the flapper removal. I left the cables and the rotator they attach to. I did notice a little driveability gain in the mid to upper rpm range. I'm not sure if there is what you would call a BIG gain to be had with any mod to the air box, unless there is a complete replacement of the airbox with a ram air set-up. The factory air box was designed to flow a certain amount of air, in a certain way. If you try to pressurize it past the designed values you may disrupt the airflow to the head. I know years ago, putting a K&N filter helped alot, but now... you will actually LOSE HP.

there is a ram air kit out there for the 954 and requires modifying your airbox. I don't have time to do a search for you right now but I know it has been talked about in this forum. and the link to the place that makes it is in the old forum...

there is a ram air kit on tobefast . com just search for the 954 parts don't know what kind of gains you get though
