I am wondering what your opinions are in relation to all the new 2004 open litre bikes

I do like the honda best now but for a second choice I would have to go with the yami just for looks cause I could never ride any of these bikes to their limits so why not go for looks after handling.

i'd have to actually go with the Kawi....i sat on the R1 and not only was i NOT impressed with the nut obliterating tank position, it didn't look that good in person. BUT this is all a moot point......I RIDE RED!!! I would find a honda somewhere :D

I voted R1..from what im seeing at daytona tire testing its a badass..im not sure what the power difference between the too,but I would have to get the Graves motorsports 4-1 exhaust, fuck them 2 canons, there ugly.

pip....i hate to say it, but you actually did good....HAHAHAAA

the MV F4 has been on of my favorite bikes, in the looks dept., for a loooooong time

nice pic

The reason why I'm buying the duc instead of the F4 is because production isn't supposed to start until this summer and there is no gaurantee that the bike is coming stateside. This was told to me by one of the MV reps.

i'd buy an aprilia mille rsv-r Nera over every bike on that list, personally.

Honda RCV 211V (5 Cylinder V)
V5. Honda power. 2004 will see the bike in its 3rd year. Customer bikes all over the place. A successful design, even emulated by Kenny Roberts. The engine makes something around 230bhp with the power band coming in fairly low in the rev range. It drives off corners well, and Honda has continued to refine its torque characteristics with RAM air ducts, shortie exhausts, and electronic and computer changes. The pace of development of this bike seems to be rapid though quietly done. The engine clearly has the rest of the field by the scruff of the neck.

Of interest is just how tall these engines are, Honda engineers have stacked the gearbox vertically behind the crank, leading to a stunningly short but tall motor. As Honda uses a 72° crank, they have clearance in front of the motor, but the exhaust pipes still end up going a long way south, and seem even to run round the sides of the sump. One other point worth making, though not apparent in these images, is that the RCV211 carries its engine very high in the chassis. The crank shaft is a significant height above the line of the front axle, which should make the bike a bit top heavy. Note the large white plastic protector over the crank end.

For this new-era machine, Honda selected the revolutionary V5 configuration as its power plant, which Honda believe is the ultimate figure to achieve the optimum concentration of mass and minimum frontal area of the machine. The engines displacement is 990cc. It has round pistons with 4 valves per cylinder. Three front cylinders and two rear cylinders from the 20-valve V5 layout with 75.5 degree V-angle. The V5 is fed by the new racing PGM-Fi (programmed fuel injection) system.

The minimum weight of 145kg, as indicated by the regulations for four or five-cylinder machines, has been achieved. Honda also bring the New Pro-link Rear Suspension system to the RC211V to enable maximum flexibility on overall machine layout and frame body rigidity selections.

Overall Length (mm): 2050
Overall Width (mm): 600
Overall Heigth (mm): 1130
Wheelbase (mm): 1440
Road Clearance (mm): 130
Weight (kg): +145
Engine Type: Liquid cooled

Displacement (cc): 990
Maximum Power (PS): +200
Frame Type: Twin-tube
Tyre Size (inch): F17, R16.5
Suspension: Front: Telescopic

Yamaha always makes a good "looking" bike but I don't like the ride. If money wasn't a factor I'd pick the MV Augusta. :headbang:

I think that you should know a couple of things about the new aprillia's.

I have two friends that I ride with that have this bike. Well actually one has the ohlins package at 18k and the other has the showa package at 14k.

They both are having similar problems and they are:
1. They both have the clutch hydraulics leaking down.
2. They both have leaking fork seals. ( Even though they are different susspensions and neither rides wheelies).
3. One of the rear brembo calipers stuck and locked the rear tire up ( that was on the bike you see here).
4. They both need parts, one has been waiting on parts for over a year.
5. Both has something wrong in the electronics and they both sparatically quit.

I would think a bike of this kind of money wouldnt have these kinds of problems. Id think twice before slapping down the green for one of these until they get the kinks worked out.

Just thought you should know. The guy that has the factory ony has had his bike for about 4 mounths (the one with ohlins, and O-Z rims) wants to get rid of his already cause of the problems.

i'd get the ZX-10R. if i couldn't have the amazing handling of the Honda i'd have to have the fucking balls of the kwak. that bike has some sick power.

Thats rotten luck. but for the record, i know of people with new 2005 bikes last year that had issues too,so....?

Also, this is a 40,000$ bike, the Nera Model. the bits on this model are all trick. its not the 14 or 18 grand model.

anyhow, this thread was from 2004, 2 years ago... and it was more fantasy than reality, thus the rc-8 as someone listed :)

Yea i know general and without a doubt its a nice bike its just that for spending that kind of money and having those problems sucks.
Anywho if I had 18k to slap down on a bike id have to be the yammy with ohlins set up.

But since we all are dreaming then ill dream of my black 211V. Thank you THank you thank you.:hehe:
