: CBR1000RR valves being loud? injectors?
SpOoNmAn 08-06-2004, 06:21 PM I crossed the 200 mile marker today on my new baby, and Id say @ around 180, I noticed the valves, or something that sounds like them, started getting louder. It only happens when I rev the engine. At idle, its pretty much silent.
Ive read that the injectors can make such a noise, but just looking for other opinions/info. :)
By the way, my bike hasnt smoked at all, like some others noted theirs did. Shes running beautiful, I started taking her up to 7 and 8 grand on the tach, and holy shit
I cant wait till I can hammer her really good :twofinger:
Should I wait to do the flapper mod after its first service check?
gntbldr 08-06-2004, 06:51 PM you're the second person to address the ticking sound so far and as it stands it's still the injector noise like the 954 has. Keep on going at it and Have Fun!. :)
the other thing you mentioned is the flapper mod.... don't do it unless you get a full system or you disable the exhaust valve in conjunction with the flapper mod... but if you do that you may have a laggy low end and also it may surge a bit too.
No one that I've heard of has disabled the flapper and the ehaust simultaneously on either the 1KRR or the 954 so all that talk is theory speech.
Sounds like you are really liking your new baby.
Ride On :!:

SpOoNmAn 08-06-2004, 06:57 PM thanks for the update!
I already have the laggy low end like everyone lese, I guess Ill have to get used to it. All those worries go away when the tach rises..this thing is amazing :D
Da1000RRStuna 08-06-2004, 06:57 PM 200 miles 180mph  take it easy and brake it in right..
the sound is nothing to worry about..I wear ear plugs so I dont hear anything :D
flapper mod is easy and you might want to do the air filter mod also..

LOL< you misunderstood me, at 180 miles, not mph, I noticed the sound getting louder.
I havent gotten over 90 yet, but it gets there so damn fast compared to the F3 I was used to.
Da1000RRStuna 08-06-2004, 09:37 PM hahahaha ok that sounds better lol..
nice sig

lol...thanks. when you sending those pics for yours?....6 months later
Niner54 08-07-2004, 05:55 PM Haven't gone over 90? I have 223 miles on mine and I hit 167 mph last night. Felt like I was doing 90... this thing is SO stable it's GREAT!!!
I have a similar noise, can't really explain it though, REAL low RPM rattle right as you begin to take off. Prolly around 2k to 3k rpm then it's gone.
I wasn't gonna worry about it until my 1st service...
I did the flapper mod on my 954 with just a slip on and noticed it did smooth out a little but this thing is already so smooth I will wait for the new full sys.

new bike..im glad i didnt waste your time..over still good?
4NIC8 08-10-2004, 06:44 PM I've noticed the ticking sound too, but I don't think its anything to be concerned about. I had an F4i before my 1000RR and it had the same sound. I rode it over 9000 miles and never had a problem.
As far as the exhaust valve, I never bothered mine until I got a full race exhaust, then I just did away with the whole thing!
when i did my 2bros slip on it did alway with the exhaust valve and then i did the flapper. seemed to make a difference. i have the same ticking noise.
new_rr_owner 08-24-2004, 12:34 AM I noticed the ticking noise the first day at about 100 miles. I noticed it while just cruising between 40 and 60mph. At that point I didn't take the engine over 5k yet, so I think it is normal. Now I got about 340 miles on it and the ticking is not getting any louder. As far as breaking it in, around 300 miles I took it up to about 120mph to pass my friend on his Harley. But for the most part I'm trying to resist the temptation to pin it. Except for racing pro motocross for the last 5 years, this is my first street bike and it is surprisingly stable at the speeds I've taken it to.
gntbldr 08-24-2004, 01:17 AM right on new_rr_owner.!
that's the same way I felt about my 954 that had the same ticking sound... I soon found it to be a perfect replacement to my stolen and gone RM250 and it wan't long before I was riding it like the rm either!.
welcome to the board.
weldenupafatone 08-27-2004, 02:18 AM I have not noticed anything but the sluggish low end I asked the dealer about it since this bike is new to me and he said its normal some guys change the sprokets/ I said naaa I dont think so. I have almost 4000 miles comming up real soon. I have got it up to 145mph and it was smooth as glass.
