: My Trackday on Thursday

Only got 3 1/2 sessions in. The afternoon was rained out.

In the first session I had a to get familiar with the track. I was circulating when my right side fairing popped loose. I pitted, zip tied the bottom and went back out. The next session we played follow the leader with the control rider. He and a couple of other riders were quickly leaving me behind. About a 3 second gap in the infield. Towards the end of the session I was getting comfortable and caught the control rider.

At that point I had asked to be bumped to intermediate. They let me out. I went around for two laps. It was weird because you had guys in advanced riding in intermediate and you had beginners riding in intermediate. So it was a mad house. I had two advanced riders both stuff me into one turn. I was like: "I'm getting the hell out of here".

So back to beginner I went. The good thing about it was that I had the track to myself practically. I was dragging my toes all over the place. I gotta raise those rearsets. So I asked for a control rider to show me the advanced lines on the track. So we went back around and I was able to keep up with him. He said I should be in intermediate/expert. But those guys were dicing and I didn't want to risk going down on my first day back riding.

After that session, we stopped for lunch and the rains came down. That was the end of the day.

Some dumb things that I did were signal before some turns. People could see my lights even with the tape over them. lol hahahahahaha It's so hard to break habits.

I actually drafted and passed a Gixxer 1000. That was great.

I took my bike out for a top end run yesterday and it hit the rev limiter in 6th at exactly 160mph. I went up three teeth in the back which was perfect for the track but horrible for high speed sweepers. So I think I'm going to go back to stock gearing for the street and save my other sprocket for the track and just swap them.

With all this horsepower and torque, I power wheelie after every shift at 8000rpm. It's friggin great.

I'll work on getting pictures on the board this week.

if you palced your feet better on the pegs, that wouldn't happen. i know, i wear size 14's :D

Glad to see you're bakc on 2 wheels. Stop riding Duck Footed and get up on the balls of your feet more. When I go into a tight corner, I pretty much have the heel of my boot at the top of the heel guard and my toes are in line with the peg. Its like your foot is almost in line with the peg. Say you were going into a left hander, Its like you are rotating your left foot on the ball and you lift the heal up and rotatem your knee out. Keeping on the balls of your feet makes it easier to use your thigh muscles to lift your ass off the seat and get off to set up for a corner and then return to the middle for the straights. Hard to explain without seeing.

I was on a scooter lol. I went to this one to help out about 8 or 10 friends who went up there from another site i mod for local riders in ct. so you wont see my 954 in those pics :( (i dont have the proper gear yet for track riding). I will have the gear and all for tonys next one though, as it seems now, so provided everything goes as planned, i should see you there, wether on or off the track, hopefully on!

Stuna, that's what I thought as well. But my peg was dragging. I have a pic. I just need to raise the rearsets a notch. I didn't have that problem with the Gix.

I just put an Ohlins spring on the Showa. But you're right. I can still adjust the ride hight a bit.

I'm going to try and post a pic of my front end set up. I raised the fork tubes and dialed in max preload. That thing flicks in mighty fast.

Dragging your toes? Here's some advice, put the balls of your feet on the footpeg and hang off the thing. Now I know why you talk so much shit, you can't ride. Look below, that is what a tire is supposed to look like.

BTW, you can actually use ALL of that rear tire, that 1/2" of chicken strip means you can lean over some more.

First of all Scrotum sack!!!!!

FUSA is a fast track and there are only a couple of places on the track where you can actually get your knee down.

Why do squids always think you have to get your knee down all the time to be going fast? Let me guess, you're one of those monkeys that like to hang way off the bike in order to touch your knee down with the bike straight up. :D

I'll be at Pocono East Course at the end of the month and that is a very slow/technical track. I will get my knee down plenty over there.

What a homo!

You Tank, How's that Trim-Spa going? :D

Let me get this straight, since it's a fast track, you don't get your knee down? :? Whether it's a slow or fast track, you can get your knee down. BTW, I never once said anything about getting a knee down makes you a faster/better rider you stupid ape. Good thing you are going to a SLOW/TECHNICAL track so you can get your knee down. Just by saying that, I can tell you have NO CLUE as how to ride.

I don't use Trim Spa. By the looks of those pics, looks like you could use some.

I just had surgery. I'm allowed to be a couple of pounds overweight. :D

And I was on stock Michelin Pilot Sports. If you could push those Pilot Sports harder than I did last thursday without landing on your ass, I'll give you my bike.

And for the record, Pocono East is a much slower track than Pocono FUSA which I was at last Thurs. It's also more technical as there are much more tighter turns.

Don't you know anything about riding?!!!

Monkey Ass, I never said you have to be fast to put your knee down or putting your knee down makes you fast.

Pilots? I did my first three trackdays on Pilots and ran about 10 seconds off the CCS race pace with them. No thanks, I wouldn't take that Duc of yours, you can keep it.

I'm the pirelli man.

Suspension is NOT stock, got it done a few months after getting the bike.
1.0 springs in the front, 5mm higher oil level and 10 weight fork oil
900 Eibach spring in rear (maybe off on spring size, but it's a stiffer one)
30mm sag front/rear, suspension is setup PERFECT, bike feels great
