Hello neighbours, first of all i am canadian, i lived in the south United States for 7 years, some time in florida and some time in north georgia. While living in the south i was involved in every day life and was actually friends with some "rednecks" and other types of americans. And even if i had a small accent (my first language is french) that reveiled where i was from, i was always treated with respect and never discriminated against, in all the 7 years i was there. I always try to do the same, wheter i am visiting my sister that lives in florida (married to an american) or when i meet americans visiting Canada.

I do not take ofence to being called a canadian fag (im not a fag) and can understand the frustration americans feel towards countrys that do not support them in the way they want to be suported. But I, as a canadian have to wonder what the world would be like if russia or japan was the world's most powerfull country, probably not good. Not better then now thats for sure. This is why I get embarassed to be an American. Why are there always so many losers with little education who insist on putting everyone else down while spouting drivel. Here are the salient points:

1. Canadians are not French. They are Canadian and have been our good neighbors for many years. They are the only country to defend American soil besides ourselves. They are also the country that invaded us and burned our president's house partially down, causing it to be whitewashed and called the "White House". They have stood by us thru thick and thin, but are not our puppet. They accepted all of the flights that were barred entry to America on September 11 at considerable risk to themselves. They also housed and fed countless Americans who were stranded there.

2. The French (from France for those of you who have trouble following along) are arguably more responsible for our victory over the English (United Kingdom) during our fight for independence. They provided men, arms, supplies, and ships during the war. We would probably not be a country on our own terms were it not for the French. We owed it to them in WW2; they don't owe us for that. To top it off, the Statue of Liberty was a gift from them.

3. We, as a country, have a horrible record of supplying arms and other weapons (chemical and biological) to countries with less than stellar human rights records. We have also had these weapons used against us many times. While I have no doubts that Iraq is better off without Saddam, we originally invaded on the premise that they had WMDs and were involved in 9/11. Wrong on both counts.

4. We are seen, thruout the world, as egotistical and a country of ignorant loudmouths. I haven't seen anything here to change that perception.

And before anyone gets in a snit, I have fully supported my country in the past and will continue to do so in the future, but acting like morons is inexcusable. When we are wrong we need to be man enough to admit it. I have served in the marines (10 years) and have been a proud American all my life, but I'm not a propaganda spouting idiot. I am proud of my service and I am saddened by what I see as the decline of the honor of the armed forces. You all need to grow up and start respecting others.

WOW, this topic got way out of hand but at the same token, i've been to europe for vacation a handful of times because I am from Portugese decent and with relatives in Portugal. I meet plenty of French people and I can say one thing, they all hate Americans in some shape or form they could never say anything nice about America they blam us for anything that happens to them, they walk around like there shit dont stink they are very arrogant, rude, and give everyone a dirty look until I or someone else smacks that dumb fucking look off there face.
