Hey, does anyone know the 1000RR specs? Not so much engine specs, more measurements. How does it compare size wise to the 954RR? I can't decide weather I want a 1000RR or a 600RR, and since I don't know how big the 1000RR's gunna be, I'm kinda leaning towards the 600RR... oh yeah, haha, and I have to make this choice because the dealership totaled my wrecked F4i...so we get INSURANCE MONNEEYYY!!! WHOOOHH HOOHH! :o

Eh? Oh, and for clairifycation...I'm not trying to decide power wise...I already have a 954rr... I like the center up exhaust, but I want the power that I have on my 954...but I think we're gunna snag a 600rr for my little bro to ride when he turns 16

Do what you want but I would never put a 16 year old on a bike like that, well maybe on the track but thats it.... The main reason is most 16 year old boys are not thinking with the head on their shoulders all the time.

My nephew is getting close to that age and I decided not to let him ride because if he hurt himself or died on a machine I gave him I wouldnt be able to deal with that.

I agree with you 110% 2K.... I would never put a 16 year old on a bike like that. Maybe an old 600.... early 90's.... but not this new shit they have. If he has to have a crotch rocket, I'd lean a lil towards something older, with less power and top speed, until he gets experience. I jumped from a 1982/83 Honda GL500 Silverwing to the 54, and damn... huge difference.

Although you can't decide for him, I'd hate to see something happen to a fellow rider :!:

Not to mention the guilt should something go wrong. Smart or not your brother still has the testosterone of a 16 year old and that makes for a bad mix in my opinion. Oh and for your spec read throught this section of the forums. there are alot of specs posted...

Wait, just for varification...we're talking about putting him on a 600RR, right? Cuz that's what I'm talking about... I don't think that's too big of a bike at all...I started out on an '03 600 F4i last spring...and I did more than fine.

My comment has absolutly nothing to do with the size of the bike. Quite honestly I dont even think it should be legal for a 16 year old to get a motorcycle endorsement. I am starting to beleive that they shouldnt even be able to get a regular licence. Most 16 year olds cant even drive a car right let alone a machine that can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and you want to couple that with two wheels? All it takes is one of his idiot friends who wants to see how fast it is and a 16 year olds inexperiance with trafic in general and presto you could have an instant need for a casket. Dont get me wrong I am not knocking your brothers maturity or ability and I am not telling you what to do, I just think that you should take a step back and decide if you think him having a bike at 16, before he can even drive a car is the smartest thing you could do.

Good response 2k. Everything I was aiming to say.

A 600rr would be a bad first motorcycle in my opinion. I don't mean to knock you Meddie... but you don't think it's bad? That bike runs about 1/2 second behind the 954 in the quarter mile, and it'll go fast enough to kill him. So to say that it's not fast or not powerful enough to kill him, is bullshit.

My friend's buddy died on a 600 going 30MPH. He slid into a stop sign and broke his neck.... so whatever you say Meddie... I won't pass judgement on your bro, but it's a bad idea.

Than what is a good first motorcycle if not a 600? I mean, Ok. "yeah, a 250" obviously, or a 400? Those go 30 mph too...I know you're not knocking my brother's ability to handle himself in trafic, or on a bike, and that's cool, I appreciate the look out, but I think he'll be fine, he's been riding both my F4i and my 954 around parking lots and the neighbor hood for as long as I have been riding...and he's a better driver in a car than I am...I dunno, I don't think it's a mistake...but I understand where you would see it as one. Thanks for the look-out.

I'd start him on an old 600. Like say 91-95 model CBR, Ninja, or such... my Best friend started riding crotch rockets an a Yamaha Seca II..... and that things top speed is like 120, and It's not wheelie happy at all... he could dump the clutch in 1st and it won't go past 10 oclock....
Now he's on a ZX9r and it intimidates him, and he'sridden for like 5 years.

Yeah, but he doesn't have the kind of money to run around bike hoppin' and such, and I'm not too worried about him dumping the clutch on anything, he's been able to drive a stick since he was 14, and he's never stalled my bike...he'll be fine, I have faith.

I got a 1987 Gixxer 750 when I was 17..back in 1988..I knew my limits and didnt try anything stupid..thats why im a household name today..it took year of riding to become athe legend I am today :D hahahaha
I only wish my father was into racing and took me to the track in my younger and smaller days..I would of been a badass..
if the kid has common sense and knows right from wrong and knows what his limit is,shit let him ride, maybe let him ride only with you..
now someone give this guy some fuckin specs on the 1000RR..

Hahaha, thank you Stunta! I've been waiting for a little back up...and yes, he does know his limits, and he knows more about bikes than I do...and he's a better driver than I am, hell, I might as well just give him my 954, because I'll kill myself on a bike before he will! But it's awl good, I think I'm just gunna roll with my 954, and let him get a 600RR, or we might just fix up the F4i and make it PUUURDY...I dunno, but thanks again!
