anyone seen one of these little engines with a bigbore kit? know where one might be available and if its even a decent idea, maybe some of the race teams do this to get to like 990 area, someone hit me with some info, edumacate this negro

i don't know if there is a big bore kit for the 54, but i do know that it's a bored out 929 and that the cylinder walls are already so thin that it would be real tough to do. might be able to get some, but not much :?:

cant you put on different headers and extend the stroke? people do that sometimes, i dont know alot about engines yet, so be gentle

Boring it wouldnt give you all that much anyway. If you are going into the motor just remember the power is in the heads. I dont know what the tollerence is between the pistons and valves but if there is enough clearance you can shave the heads some youll get more compression and horsepower. Also if you had a cam cut to give some more lift that will help too. If you are going to go into the motor get ready to spend plenty of green. 8)

if i was id order one from erion or dan kyle or one of those race teams, i saw one team boasting 174 rw one naturally aspirated engines for like 4 or 5 grand, sounds decent to me, thanks for the info, but maybe i wouldnt, either way i was just curious

I dont know about you pip but my 954 is so light in the front end I really cant imagine much more than what I already have. I have to literally hang off the front of the bike just to keep the front down in 1st and even then it still comes up sometimes if I snap it.
All I have for horsepower is a jardeen and that gave me a little. 8)

im pretty sure if you rocked a sato full custom mapped and a race engine all tweaked by the team whose droppin the worked up one in and they mapped it you could caertainly do like 170-180 rwhp, someone who knows hit us with some figures of the race 954s youve seen or dynos

I talked to a guy at Erion last yr. and the most power out of the 954 was a little over 160 at the wheel. A whole lot of mods for many thou of dead pesidents. It will not make over 150 hp with the stock ECU and pc3. HRC has one that is for racing only that lets it max out power. If you bore out a 954 the cylinder bores will lose the coating that gives long engine life. I dont think the chassis could put that much power to good use anyway.

Pip, Sorry man just fuck'n with you. Noth'n personal. You can't make the hole bigger and mean it's gonna make more HP.Your gonna need to alter stroke as well ; via rod, head. Increased compression is what your looking for.As you make it wider you have to make it shorter and breathe better to match. This isn't the best bike out their for trying make it's engine over perform it will never catch up with a pure liter engine. Very few professional privateer 's even attempted to use this bike in compitition. I believe Jake could've won the last two formula x titles if he would've used his head more but without the backing he recieved from the factory he would of been average at best. The bikes main attributes are it's chasis, handleing and feel, thats what makes it a favorable option for the steet. If your crazy about producing a streetbike with outrageous hp this probably is the prefered package. You'll loose realiability and basiclly be turning it into a timebomb. Yes my bike is fast and I'm not crazy or jacked enough to think it needs to go any harder beyond basic modification. It's how you ride not what you ride, crazy only gets you killed. I believe pip wants to feel some wicked power when he wants it. when, where, how, and why he uses it is up to the circumstances...

I was also dissapointed with the 954 when I first got on it... then I learned how to use all the power it put ou the best I could with my style of riding and still wanted more of a punch then looked into all this as pip here has. too much $ for the outcome just to have the RR's handling, but when it's a desire $ sometimes is not an option.
