Anonymous 08-27-2004, 05:36 PM If your just wanting to stunt I think I would go with a 929 or 954.
but to answer you, It is a lot smoother in 2nd gear, roll on pretty hard in second until about 6,000 rpm and hammer it and give it a little jerk, it will come up smooth.
the keeping up part is a little harder, you need to get it to the point you feel like you could go over at any second. and then just work your throttle and keep it there.
It sounds and looks a lot easier than it really is.
good luck, and if your thinking about buying another 54, I know where theres a mint used one.
Anonymous 08-27-2004, 05:37 PM oh yea, welcome to the board.. :D
RR SHYT 08-27-2004, 05:52 PM WHEN U SAY HAMMER IT AROUND 6000 JUST HOW MUCH SHOULD I YANK ON THE THROTTLE WITH OUT ENDING UP ON MY BACK? HOW MUCH DO THEY WANT 4 IT?

Wheelie 08-27-2004, 06:05 PM Try lower case letters? weeeeeeeee
Anonymous 08-27-2004, 06:10 PM It won't just flip over or anything, just do it a few times without trying to bring it all the way up, just get the front tire off the ground about a foot or two and just let off the trottle, it will come right back down. This will give you the feel of how fast it is going to come up. once you feel like going higher you will find the balance point.
RR SHYT 08-27-2004, 06:42 PM WHERE CAN I FIND THE 954? & HOW MUCH?

WHY YOU YELLIN'????
the 1000rr is not meant to be a wheelie machine. they made it that way on purpose.
but if you insist, try it the way Max suggested  that's the way i do it
Anonymous 08-27-2004, 08:49 PM Longer swingarms = less ability to wheelie...... I agree get a 954, 929 or 900RR......
Wheelie 08-27-2004, 08:53 PM I think you should learn to wheelie on a xr-600, its cheaper and your can learn the balance point, throttle contol, and shifting in a wheelie. Then move up. weeeee
Da1000RRStuna 08-27-2004, 09:29 PM I think you should get a fuckin clue first..

olderRR. 08-30-2004, 09:30 PM Something that helped me was to practice setting the front wheel back down lightly. That helped me to figure out the throttle control without having to worry so much about looping it. Just pull her up and then try to set her back down slowly and pretty soon you'll be keeping her up longer and longer. I'm no expert, and I really don't wheelie too much any more, but that's how I figured it out. Be careful! And if your practicing on the 54, make sure you got a damper installed!
