Has anyone removed any smog equipment on the 2002 CBR 954? If so what is required?
Has anyone removed the airbox valve?
I am looking to shed some weight and increase performance without spending any money right now. The only thing that I have done for performance is change the air filter to a K&N and add a Yoshimura slip-on.
Any help would be appreciated,
Ike

hey ike, here is a easy way to shave some unsprung weight, wave brake rotors, also i have talked with a tech with erion racing, and he told me they tested every air filter on the market and the stock honda air filter flowed the best, also the only way to gain perf from the exhaust is by replaceing the entire system and eliminating the exhaust valve and using a pc3, there is an air box flapper mod, but im not sure how do do it, some of the other guys here know how, sorry if thats not much help, guess you are going to have to spend some$, later 8)
It figures, everything cost money. I put wave rotors on a Raptor 660 ATV that I used to have.
I want to get my "stock" CBR into something that I can say is mine! I race a Honda CR250R offroad in the Desert and Grand Prix's. My CR is not even close to being stock. The only stock parts are the frame, subframe, and swingarm. I am trying to do the same little-by-little to my CBR.
I was thinking about removing my fuel evaporator canister from the CBR. Has anyone done this? If so was anything special required or it as simple as throwing in the garbage or selling it on eBay?

get a full sytem- i'd suggest moriwaki
flapper mod-
lift tank. open airbox. see that big "door" that's linked to the throttle linkage that flaps up and down? it has a coupla springs on it... REMOVE. there ya go, flapper mod. reccomend getting a system to go along with this. as for the O2 sensor in the mid pipe- follw it up to the wiring harness and remove.

You can get rid of the of the PAIR valve. It's located above the valve cover behind the steering head. Remove the valve and the hoses. Then plug the holes left in the valve cover. I took the two plates off and filled the holes with some JB weld. You'll probably have to re-adjust your idle after doing this (just turn it up a tad). Saves some weight and slightly improves performance. :skull:
