Thanks for posting this. I had no idea this was going on and this is in my back yard! I will follow this one closely and do whatever is needed to help out. If the dual sport guys can't ride on class 4 roads legally, where am I going to ride my CR legally? My yard? Probably get a ticket for noise pollution or the 2 stroke smoke!

You're not too far off the mark. 2 years ago we were ridin our quads at a friends place in Putney and the Sheriff came up to the house to try and shut us down cause the closest neighbor called in a complaint. The closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away!

The cops are definately out to get the bikers more this year it seems. I have a friend that got a ticket for not having both hands on the bars when he was coasting to a stop. He was stretching out a little and got ticketed. "you don't have control of the motorcycle" blah blah blah. What a load.He was no more than 30mph with the rear brake on. Same guy also got a ticket for his plate being too tucked. Another friend in CT got a ticket for having his helmet on ( no helmet law there I think) with the visor open a little while in town traffic. He might have been sitting at a light or slowing down for one, something like that. Anyway, he got ticketed for no eye protection - either wear glasses, or have the visor closed. WTF???? Unbelievable....

This year I put all my shit back on. So did the guy in CT. It's not worth the hassle. The bike looks like shit with the big stock blinkers but those fuckers can't harass me for not having them. Or for them not being "legal"

Shit like this pisses me off. Oh and to top it off, I have kids riding those $300 pocket bikes around the neighborhood with no helmets, not getting in trouble. Shit, I start my CR250 in the driveway and the cops show up. Not that I want those kids to get in trouble, but it should at least be fair. If I buzz up my dead end street on a full size bike ( and I have a motorcycle license) I shouldn't get a ticket, but 12 yr olds can run around town on mini bikes that you can't even see from a car and not get stopped. Stupid shit
man.

Anyway. I'll stop my rant. Some one else can step up onto the box.

yup, this happens at a popular wednesday night hang out cause its squids galore there so the cops look for any little thing they can, and the visor thing is a popular one.

whats even funnier, is that if you were wearing one of those little skull cap helmets like the harley guys wear when in states with helmet laws, and you wore it in CT where there is no helmet law, you can get ticketd for wearing a non-dot approved helmet, but if you weren't wearing it at all they can not ticket you. crazy stuff!

Knock on wood, it seems that here in my town the cops are cool with a lot of shit..... I hope that thing with the AMA creates alot of noise and the Sherrifs office has to back down and appologise because thats just wrong.....

if this kind of crap keeps up around here i will make it a point to talk to a lawyer and see what i can do about harassment. the one i talked to a few days ago said that what i have been telling him borders on lawsuit kinda stuff,(profiling, harassment, etc...) but we are talking about a lawyer here

this is starting to get outta hand :x :x
