IIFAST4U 09-14-2004, 08:34 AM Hi everyone, I am going to take a nice long trip friday to go get myself a 2002 954RR It has 17k miles but Looks in really nice shape. I live in RI and currently ride a 1990 GSXR750. I just sold a 1988 cbr 1000 Hurricane which was in nice shape.
the 954 is black/silver and I cannot wait. of course being in RI not much of a riding season left and by the looks of Hurricane "Ivan" its going to hit SC as I am arriving. :D Ive been browsing this forum since I made my decision to go get this bike last week. Now I'm just curious does this bike even compete with the 1 Litre bikes? I hope it can at least hang with the GSXR 750?? I don't race or stunt really but I would hope it can compete at this level.
Thanks
Shawn
By-Tor 09-14-2004, 08:56 AM The 954 will hang just fine with most bikes. It is plenty of bike and you will not be disapointed. What it lacks in straight line power, it makes up for in handling and braking. Welcome to the board.
cbrjimmy1KRR 09-14-2004, 08:58 AM welcome aboard shawn!!!
yes the 954 can compete. it may not be able to hang with the NEW liter bikes top end, but it will have enough performance to make you :D coming off that '90 GSXR750, you're gonna think you're on a rocket ship
Streetfighter 09-14-2004, 11:12 AM Hey Shawn, I also came off a 750 when I bought my 954RR, and let me tell you they don't compare. The 954RR is light years ahead of the pack. A lot of the new litre bikes are faster, but not nearly as comfortable or as nice to look at. Oh and about the Gixxer 750, its fast but I can tell you from experience it can't hang with the CBR!
IIFAST4U 09-14-2004, 12:37 PM thanks for the welcome, I figured it would be a pretty fast bike. I have always liked Honda Bikes anyway. thanks for the info as well
Shawn

Hey streetfighter, I assume you're talking about an older gixxer 750 vs a new one, right? Because a new GSX750 will not only hang with a 954, it will beat it (on the track).
Don't get me wrong, I love my 54 and wouldn't want a gixxer, but ya gotta be careful when you say something like that - all the Suzuki dudes will get their panties in a bunch!
gntbldr 09-14-2004, 02:37 PM Welcome to the Board!.
I've ridden an 03 gix 750 back to back with the 954 on the same roads and riden right the gix did well but didn't have the right oomph in the right spots for ease of road riding. the revs seemed to high for safety while the 954 would just Romp right out of the hole like nothin. You'll be very pleased.
Ride On!
Anonymous 09-14-2004, 03:37 PM welcome IIFAST4U.
Niner54 09-14-2004, 04:03 PM Welcome, had my 54 for 2 years. And also had a Hurricane, among others.
The 954 is awesome and is bad ass wheelie monster.
Good luck.
WELCOME!!!!
Remember, have fun and play with me... um, I mean nice
Streetfighter 09-14-2004, 04:57 PM Hey Spud,
I recently ran into a 2001 Gixxer 750 on the highway and he was not able to keep up with me. Granted he was not far behind, but not close enough to pass me. As for the track that is a different story, I would probably have to agree the Gixxer would probably take the CBR. This is to all the Gixxer fan's I think the 750 is probably one of the best sportbikes ever made. :D
Wheelie 09-14-2004, 08:58 PM weeeeeee
Truck 09-15-2004, 05:57 PM Its all the rider. Ive smoked and I mean smoked a zx-10r in the twisties. Just remember that these bikes are all so brutally powerfull that the only difference is in a straight line, unless of course your like stunna and redo the suspention to handle like a moto gp bike
Terry 09-15-2004, 06:49 PM Welcome to the forum, I'm with truck, Its all rider. I too have out-ridden some people on faster bikes, & have been schooled by riders that are better than I am too.
