I was wondering if anyone had tried making a home made type ram air. It seems like it wouldn't be to hard to take some pipeing from the current air duct and make it so they run next to the inner fairings so making it a ram air effect. I know hot bodies makes one but for that price u can do alot more work to your bike.

hahaha... if you dig hard enough you will find a pic of a guy that was selling a kit of something of that nature.
he had a red 954 with red and black ,what looked like, vacuum hose running up to the front.
it was funny looking to say the least

Been thinking about this but never got around to getting it yet. I know it's not a DIY project but thought you might want to check it out.

There is a slight increase of power. I took the hoses off and noticed the loss more than the gain when I first did it. Biggest advantage is I plugged the smaller holes on the airbox so the cooler air comes from the front of the bike, rather than the warm air on top of the radiator.
It is really awsome right now with the temps in the 70's. Also with the chrome tubes, I was able to put the stock covers back on so it looks cleaner.

Did you consider running the tube on the inside of your faring rather that through it?

I was thinking more of a design used on this race bike. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid145/p35d2324154a03b8f1a183ad76ab02236/f6650531.jpg

Maybe you should get some big funnels for the leading edges of the tubes for an amplified ram air effect. OxO
