My ole lady snuggled up next to me last night and says, "I want one of these. PLEEEEEEEZE!" and shoves this pic under my nose.

I can't keep her from getting another bike. That would be a sin. Especially since I'm back riding again. She's fallen in love with the thing. I'm sweatin bullets. But DAMN if this bike's not a looker. I'd love to get it for her, but I'm still suffering from the nightmares. She's mostly better, but still limps. She is fortunate in that she remembers nothing from the wreck itself, but she went through so much hell after and she does remember that. This is a hard one. I feel like if I tell her no, in all fairness, I should sell the 54. WTF?

you're right.
if you do say no you will end up selling your niner. and then not living as full of a life as you may need. to keep even Worse nightmares away.

been there. only with myself though. after my life was almost taken more than a few times and all the agony of recoveries I couldn't think to myself anything but nothing at all.
nothing only goes soo far till you miss EVerything about riding that brought you that serenity that one can only achieve on two wheel. feeling the world not just around you but inside you as the elements tantalize your senses.

how can you say no?

no worries.

get her the bike. you have to do that or you will shut the door to the courtyard you love sooo much and that your wife only was given a glimpse of.

she wants to smell the flowers. let her.
for me. Please!.. hehehehehe

soooo is that too much fukin with you?
:P

she could get back on and never be in another accident, you've got her hooked now.

If she loves it that much she needs to have another bike. just my :twocents:

I have to say I am with these guys. Can't imagine what you went thru cause I have never been it that situation (only fucked me up every time...) but I think confidence for both of you would be big!!!

Maybe take a (or couple) of performace (safety) schools and some tracks days. The more comfortable she is the more comfy you'll be...

my .02 Go with it man, like lettin a daughter grow up...

Mt wife wants one as well. The good thing is she's never ridden b4 so i tell her no. I don't even let her ride on the back.We have two kids and I tell her that we both can't die at the same time. Two of her GF rides and they are pretty good. My wife has bad hand eye coordination, she can't even play a video game.so this is the reasons I tel her no. But in your case my friend, she can still har the music and wants to dance. Let her and just pray that she stays safe

When I had my accident this year all I could think about was gettin another bike in the garage so I would have something to ride when I got healed up. The pain of not having a bike in my possession was more painful than what my body went through. I had nobody to blame for my get off but myself. Your wife was an innocent victim. If she was walking across the street, that truck would have still hit her. The fact that she was on a bike had little to do with the shit that came down on her. I told my wife that I was getting another bike and she knew it would be complete hell to live with me if I did'nt have one. Don't deprive her of something that obviously brings her as much joy as it does you.

My $.02 :)

i can understand your concern, but you have to think of it like this...........what would you do if someone told YOU no?

i know you love her, but you have to step back sometimes and not love too much, if that makes sense. i don't mean that in a bad way, i hope you understand what i'm trying to say.

i'm with these guys :D

good luck bro

Older , That is a tough position to be in. I'm just glad to hear she is doing better and in good spirits! I think everyone is right though. It wouldn't be fair for you to make that decision for her. And you certainly couldn't have a bike and tell her no. Let her decide. Talk it out with her. Tell her your concerns. Just encourage her to wait long enough to really be ready physically and mentally. You wouldn't want something to happen just because she wasn't "strong" enough yet. Good luck older, Our thoughts are with you both.

I know I can't keep her away. The package idea gets me going! :D I let her read all your responses. She immediately starts saying, "SEE! SEE! THEY UNDERSTAND!" Then she started crying about missing her bike, her gear, the excitement. She told me she 'hurt inside'.

I guess we will be looking at bikes when they come out in Jan. Of course, she wants a brand spankin new one.... She got so excited she started bouncing off the walls. I was afraid she was gonna break her leg again. It reminded me of what it's all about.

Thanks guys for listening and saying what needed to be said. You put Lori on cloud 9.

this whole thread made me really think about how i ride....the reason is as i was sitting here reading the posts i started to think about how i would feel if a certain girl were riding like i do on a bike of her own like i ride (alone or two up) and however much i'd like to say that i'd encourage her, i think i'd probably sell my bikes so she wouldn't have one either after some of the accidents i've seen. i can deal with it if it happens to me, but i dont' think i could handle seeing her get hurt. don't ask where that came from and if i think about it again in 15 min i'd probably say something else...like i'd want her to do something that i enjoy that much and would want her to enjoy it too .then in 15 more min i'd change my mind again. luckily she likes to just ride with me and doesn't want one of her own. then i can take it easy and i don't have to worry about her sliding off a cliff cause she was just learning.

i agree to a point Bond, but i learned a long time ago that you can't live life on "WHAT IFS".what you say makes sense, alot of sense, but you can't stop living thinking about what may happen......if we did that, we'd all be hermets and never leave the house. just let those thoughts make you be more careful in what your doing

the best thing to do is get back on. i know because i had to after being rear-ended at a red light by a car that was hit doing fifty. i flew into the intersection. she has to get back on.

A BIG WOW, I know what you feel about this one. I know if it was my wife id be terified about her climbing back on one. I know that if you still dont have nightmares then you would as soon as you and her started riding again. Well my friend this is a fear of yours and not hers. See if you can get her on a 600. Still way more power than she needs but a very usable power unlike the liter bikes which as you know will bite you quick. Tell Lori that my heart was with you guys during all that and I have a little fear for her as well. But just like me and you shes got the spirit to climb back on so help her to get on the right machine and climb back into the saddle the right way. The 600 rr and the R6 are definatly the two best to look at. Wheelie is gonna love this but the gix 750 is the perfect race machine

I say go for it.

I crashed a long time ago at 30 mph, totaled my bike, cracked my helmet and had to hop on back of another bike to get home. Just cant keep me off 2 wheels.

It's pretty much winter here right now so we are going to wait for the '05's to come out. The package thing you mentioned earlier has got the wheels turnin in me head, although I still REALLY love my 54. Just looking and knowing that one will be coming her way has her on cloud nine. "LET'S GO SIT ON THEM" "LET'S GO TALK TO THE GUYS AT THE SHOP" "LET'S GO........" You get the picture.

I hope to hear some great stories about you(olderRR) and your wife riding together next season.

YOU WILL my friend! You will.

Hey Crash! I got a 954. An '02 R/B. She's got a bit over 24,000 on her. Lori had an '03 600RR (the black one) when she got run over. She REALLY liked it and it seems she wants another :D

The package deal I been cummin about is a bran new 600RR an a bran new 1000RR. Or a bran new 51 (OHHHHHHH!!!) or waiting just abit and see if Honda delivers on the V5. Now wouldn't THAT be sweet!!!! The ins. is looking to pay off as they should. Nothing spectacular, but all I want is to be left with no bills--close to the way we were. That's all.

GNT! I thought you were a Black and Tit man?? HAHAHA!! I KNEW IT! Deep down inside, the Honda RED makes your blood boil!!!!!!!!!!!

you got me pinned Sir olderRR. .
pinned I say.

one day I decided I was going to try out this sportbike thing.
I said to myself (since I've always been a fein on red and black bikes... or just black one)
I said to myself "the first one I see when I walk in there , I'm buying"
in the window was a red/blk 954RR. didn't see it because I told myself the first one I see when I walk in ther... thing
well the one I saw was the red superhawk. it had black on it. I bought it.
was happy. but not soley overjoyed. it wasn't all in all red and black but it Was the only red and black bike to be seen on the floor.

well when I had it for almost a year a lot had happened. and I wanted to be done with it all. I had a couple of blemishes on the bike that brought back memories I didn't want so I figured it was time to go black.
it backfired. as you all know. now I'm on a katana. kinda fitting.

I think here now and then.
what if i would have just got that one in the window like I may have been supposed to get?

yeah yeah yeah. I love that red white and blue 1KRR. yeah I'd love that new RC51 too!.
but getting a new bike won't fit in my budget after all the doctor bills and all the debt I went into after loosing everything from the crash. ins didn't really pay out for shit. a fraction. I still have well over 20K in debt between them 2 bikes and all the after market stuff that got gone too.

I may be able to swing something with liquidating a shit load of things and adding all the $ up but no way will I ever be able to buy a new again with having to pay ins.
ins. is now to be almost $400/month for full coverage for me with my record. and if you have a lein on a loan you Have to have full coverage here...

so it's a used bike for me. and I'll have to sell a lot to get one.

it's going to be red and black.
and i'm going to love it like no other.

dude, older, I can kinda see you on that RC51. that torque would be a warm welcome in them mountains over there. heh?

it's just sooo bad ass and next to that 600RR!. Damn. It'd be a threatening duo!.
