Hey board,
I was wondering if anyone else experienced the same problem as I did. The right side air duct cover is rubbing through the frame. I'm at about 1/32" deep now. This is bullshit! I'll try to get some pics of it and post em. I glad I have the extended warranty! :D

exactly, the right side only. I had the mechanic look @ mine so he could talk to Honda about it. I still have the extended warranty. When he mentioned it to the Honda techline, they said they never heard of this problem. They have to rebuild my engine this winter, so when they are doing that, they will send a district rep out to look at it. I might even get a new frame out of this warranty! (damn near a new bike, so far!)

General,
I'll try to get some pics on Thanksgiving. I'll try to get them posted as soon as possible.
In the meantime, check the right side air duct cover that attaches to the tank and front fairing. Pullup on the underside of it and check for rubbing on the frame. It should be quite apparent.
Happy Thanksgiving!

my shit was really loose though, i think it was assembled on a monday, i had the shifter peg bolt fall out comlpetely, the right mirror bolt, fiaring bolts, left barend fell off, couple other small ones, nothing serious ever, but stupid shit falling off like my bike was assembled at a leper colony, clutch lever, shit what else, o yeah, EVERY SINGLE STOCK TURN SIGNAL DISSASSEMBLED IT SELF due to vibration,, i dunno, im just sayin, maybe the excessive wear on mine was due to the fact that my shit is looser than a pilgrim prostitute at the end of november

I would keep an eye out at the dealership where you bought it and serviced it. They are responsible for checking fasteners before final delivery to the customer, and a good tech always checkes chassis fasteners for looseness.
I did'nt have to worry about that though. I worked @ the dealer when I bought the bike and I assembled it myself.

Ccandy,
I've been having the strangest problems with mine. First the wiring harness shorted, water-pump (not so strange) cracked engine cases, and now this frame thing.
By the time I'm done with the extended warranty, they may have replaced 80% of the bike. :D
I guess I'm just not flogging it as much as most other people. lol :D Just fuckin w/ ya bro.
How deep are the wear marks in your frame? Did you let Honda know about it? They might actually replace it for you. I know that Kawasaki is doing this on the 01' ZX-9's... warranty or not, they cover the whole deal.

Those carbon fibers look great! I haven't had any prob. with mine rubbing. I've got around 24K and have the extended warranty. I think alot of times it depends on your dealer. I haven't had any trouble with anything concerning warranty. Even some things not covered. But I've heard that other folks have gone through hell trying to get their dealers to cover anything. Good luck with it. That's definitely NOT a good thing.

DAMN! Those pics are UGLY! That really messes with the integrity of your frame! What's happening with the warranty? Are they gonna cover? That really sucks.

I'm supposed to take the bike in for a replacement of the engine cases due to a stress fracture near the left front cylinder head stud. When the bike gets to the shop, they are to call the regional representative. He'll come to the shop where the bike will be and make a determination from there.
I, personally, don't see how they could possibly deny the issuance of a new frame. Especially since there are others with the same condition.
I'll keep you posted on the situation. Meanwhile, I'm preparing to rip the hell out of it tomorrow... forecasted 50 degree day!

crazy how it can cut in to the frame like that isnt it? Maybe we should just get our dremels out and shave the ram air down a little right their

i'm not sure that the plastic was actually cutting into the frame on mine. it looked more like it was just taking off the paint. it looked bad, but i don't think plastic was actually wearing away the aluminum :?

WHEW..I just checked mine and all is good. Actually I have like an 8th of an inch clearance between the frame. I do want the carbon covers though :!:
