Hello fellow riders,

As you can see from my number of posts I am new hear. AWESOME board guys. I've been reading for hours and there is alot of information. I have a 2002 CBR 954RR. This topic has been been beaten to death, but I was hoping to get some input. This thread is going to get a little long so bear with me.

My bike is completely stock and like most people, I want to do some modifications to it. Here is my list:

1. Complete exhaust (I thought of just a bolt on, but I am the type of person who likes to go all out). I have narrowed down my options to either an M4, Hindle, or Akrapovic system. After reading it seems that folks around here are partial to Hindle.

2. Power Commander

3. Steering Damper Kit

There goes at least $2,000 :).

This is my problem. With the exhaust that I choose, it seems inevitable that in order to get optimum performance I will need the Power Commander. Is this true?? I have been reading and there seems to be mixed emotions on this topic.

I live in New Mexico, and there is nobody around here that does custom maps (at least nobody I would trust with my bike). I see that the power commander website has maps for download. Has anybody used these?? As far as the PC is the PCIIIr that much better than the PCIIIusb?

What is everyone's opinion with my exhaust. I don't race at the track, I just like kicking everybody's ass on the street. Stock my bike does extremely well, but with mods as you all know it will be better (plus it will sound better). I don't want to screw up my bike and always have to be tinkering with it for it to run right.

Little help??

If you want to go all out...

- full exhaust
- Power Commander w/ Custom Map
- Pin down flapper
- Ram air
- Damper
- Frame sliders
- Brake lines

This would be sweet on the street.

Everyone has a different opinion on exhausts. Akro is good but $. Full Hindle is a good choice and reasonable. There are others too, it's basicaly up to you.

A custom map is what you need, but if your lucky you may be able to find someone with the same mods as you and from the same altitude. If your going all out you got to get the custom map. You want your bike to run right.

Damper wise some like Scotts, some like Ohlins. There are others, but these are the most popular. Again, it's up to you.

Brake lines, you could do stainless steel, Kevlar, I'm not sure what's the best, but both are better than rubber.

Hope this helps. I'm sure others will have some input. Good luck! :)

Ram air link. I don't know how good it is.

pin down flapper???

You tuck the flapper down, (located in the air box), under the rubber air intake ducts.

A turbo may be a little extreme for me. I don't want to f*ck anything up.
