Can't decide on either an Arai RX7 Corsair or a Shoei RF-1000. I have never owned either an Arai or a Shoei.

Pros and cons of each?

Please give some input.

Have you tried on the Arai yet? I wanted to get the RX7 but it turned out that the Astral fit me MUCH MUCH better...all their series have a slightly different shape to them.

Get the one that fits the best. I tried many many helmets on before going with the Arai.

why the rf1000 instead of the x-11?

I got the x-11 and It is the best helmet I've worn.

Hello, everybody. i am new to the forum, and from what i've read you guys rock!!!
as far as the arai or shoei, it dosen't matter. both are excellent helmets so which ever one fits you best go with it. i personally have a shoei rf-900 (Duhamel replica) but i picked it up new from a local dealer for 150.00 new. i couldn't pass on it.

I had an article that was from liks 2001 or something that said 85% of motorcyclists had improperly fit helmets on. make sure you get the right fit, thats the most important factor!

i have a round head,so the Arai fits my head better. I both have the Corsair and the X11 and I have no complaints on either one of them!! 8)

I own a RF-900 and am pretty happy with it. One point you guys havent brought up is how (easy, hard) is it to take the lens off and on. the shoei is real easy I dont know about the arai but I know that some lenses are real hard to take off and put back on.
For cleaning purposes its a good idea for it to be usable.
I heard that the ariai is real loud too, I dont know cause I dont own one but that is another thing to look at.
Im looking into a suomy right now i may buy one of those, any body got one of them? :wink:

I know the corsair/rx7-rr is a standard shape, but Arai does something pretty unique in that their helmet likes are shaped differently.

Astral, Signet, and Quantum helmets are 3 completely different shapes to fit people better. :wink:

I've never owned an Arai. But I sure am glad I spent the money for a Shoei for my wife. It saved her life. I agree with Terry. Try 'em on and the one you like the best/fits the best is the one to get. I think what's most important, is that it's always on!
