im loggin aboot 5500 actual on my 5er, i flog the shit outta this beast but she runs PERFECT, the brakes are fadin so i wanna change the pads, change all the fluids and filters, excepting air unless you all think thats necessary, otherwise ill clean it, flush the radiator and change the brakepads, standard shit, thing is i want to make sure i dont miss anything or fuck anything up, super clean the chain, new tires

1ST question = ill drain the oil, change the filter, what oil should i use, i am using standard honda oil, please dont beat this issue to death with the synth vs, natural, if i change types should i flush the motor, should i anyhow, should i flush the injectors with some sort of cleaner? should i use anything to flush the motor before i put new oil in it at all? what filter should i go with, scotts has reusable filters, that sounds like a good idea to me [i dont wanna hear any bullshit about this, im asking in terms of optimum performance, not in terms of regular running, i know it doesnt NEED to be flushed, but for optimum performance are there any benefits from doing this?]

it runs fine ive had it out and longest it sat this winter was 30 days in one sitting, the rest we had 50 degree days here and there and i took her out for at least a few hours every week or so

2ND question = radiator - flush it with what? vinegar and water deionized to what ratio? is that it? i want to add water wetter, what should i use and what ratio once i flush the radiator

3RD question = do i need new brake fluid? the reservoir is normal, its not weird coloured, will it hurt to change it, remember, my bikes been OUTSIDE, will it cost an armand a leg, do i need to bleed it when i change the pads?

4TH question = what pads should i go with, lets just say my bike doesnt get much sunday riding, i ride it hard as shit, so i want good pads, FRONT AND BACK, decent life, but grip is alot more important with as little fade as possible, but im not paying 200$ a pad, i have NO clue what brand to go with

5TH question = as well another question i have about brakes is, anyone on here run braided brake lines, and if so how much did they improve the performance of your braking system

6TH question = chain, wtf should i clean it with,?
and what should i use to treat it so i get some decent mileage out of it, wax of some sort? i just soak it with wd40 at the moment, i know i shouldnt, but i dont know what i should be treatin it with, once i build this rear stand itll be alot easier to maintain this bitch

7TH question = TIRES, one of the most important questions of all, im running Michelin sports, i know all your superracin motherfuckers gonna be like, those tires suck, you cant rail fine, im just not gonna wast em, im killin em, now i need some serious rubber, i hear good shit about pirelli, but bad shit about them, avon good shit, and a few other brands, dictate people, please help me here

8TH question = what did i miss, what else do i need to do, the most important question, i was thinking about having someone with more skill than me checking the valves to make sure they are in order, but maybe its not necessary, i mean, it runs perfect up to redline and tops out and ride perfect across the range, so should i bother, did i miss anything else?

i wouLD GRRRRRRRRRRREATLY appreciate any help answers or tips or guidance or advice, and i promise i will keep track of what im told so i dont have to ask it again

thanks much in advance

I say don't worry about all the flushing until 15-20k mi.
Use whatever oil you want but make it 20w50. and the cheaper the oil the more often you should change it. (approx every 2k mi. for average oil)[filter change every other if you're lazy]
go with goodrich braided fron and their pads of choice (forget about braided rear)

and put some battle axes on her. she'll turn a wee bit faster

drain the coolant and refill with watter wetter or engine ice and mix it as they say.
look into cleaning the air filter if you want but replacing it is only needed when it's bad.

all I can think of right now and have time for

ohhh yeah one more thing.
I use honda chain lube to clean the chain with a rag to wipe off all the grime and then use some chain wax from pj1 I think and make sure you let that shit dry before you balst down the road

get that wd40 can away from your bike

Here is what I recomend.

Change your oil with the factory Honda stuff and use the factory filter. I say factory filter because I have used two diferent aftermarket filters and both times the seal failed. For brakes I recomend EBC HH and Goodridge SS lines however these are expensive $194.00 for the front (not the ones with the clear jacket on them) fully flush your brake sytem with Motul 600 dot 4 (do not use 300 degree fluids). Clean the hell out of your calipers including any surface on the caliper, pins etc so the new pads can glide properly and also return properly (this helps with noise and heat) I would definatley flush your brakes especialy if it has factory fluid in the lines. With the EBC's and the SS lines you will have way better bite and improved feel. I agree with GNT you dont need to flush coolant yet. Make sure you are up to date with your sceduled maintnence. If you need help with bleeding your lines I can help you just PM me and we can exchange numbers. For cleaning the chain I use karosene and I lube it with Silkolene

Don't really know what to tell you these boyz said it all and yes keep the wd40 away from your chain if you didn't already ruin it .Read the can that stuff comes out of it will dry the rubber and crack them your chain does have o-rings or x-rings left .If not replace it wd40 will eat them away sorry that wasn't a good idea we all make mistake time to time !Have fun when you get all done

I disagree, I have been cleaning my chain with WD40 for 30 years now, and it has never caused a problem. Clean with wd40, then lubricate.

But it does say it will eat rubber doesn't it I could be wrong?
