Have any of you track day go-ers experienced issues with ground clearance? I've noticed some problems with clearance at extreme lean angles with the CBR1000RR.

Hell, even the pig of a ZX-7R had good clearance.

That's what I thought, but BigRome (who posts here) has a similar pic that looks like he's about to drag the fairing.

Dunno you may be right. If that is the case then you can forget scrubbin the elbow. that guy isnt even close.
Even on my old FZR 600 ive had my knee pushed into the tank a few times.

You know it could be that he is on an out of camber turn.

Turn looks normal to me. Honda and Ducati set up their bikes very similarly, but the Ducati can get away with it more because the bike is narrower.

I don't know, dragging the fairing is cool to a point, but it can also be scary.

That guy is not even clost to gettin off the bike. Look at the graffic in the middle of his chest. It's only 2-3' off center when compared to the gas lid.

Here's a pic of me and BigRome in the same turn. Look at the bottom of our bikes.

I'm leaned over about 10 degrees further and I have more room to go. He's about to drag the bottom and he's not as far over as me.

Looks like he still he has a bit of angle left.

I haven't heard any complaints about insufficient lean angle.

Hey Turbo, I totally agree with you. The CBR is kinda of wide on the lower fairings, not as narrow as your Ducati. But why do the 1000RR race bikes have so much clearence in the AMA races? Those bikes never look like they are scrapping their lower fairings?

You took the words right out of my mouth.

i think its just deceiving. the rider in the first pic isn't hanging off much. obviously they are fine with clearance when you see them with a pro on them. maybe some more racing schools will correct that issue with the rider in the example.

I'm sure the correct set up on the suspension would make it better too. He may have the shock bottomed out therefor you would be closer to the ground.

Turbo look at the zipper line on your and Rome's leathers. Your off a lot more than he. That makes a lot of difference. 8)

I agree with truck, big rome looks more centered on the bike, turbo is more off center with his body, turbo imo your position on the bike is better in those pics, nice job. 8)

Thank you Terry.

Rome is a good rider. Just different riding styles.

I was wondering what MAX voiced about suspension.
but I would bet the twin would be easier to deal w/ the issue
how about those few good shots of the elbow draggers we get every year
what are they on?

I raised my front forks in the tubes. So my front end is really low and I still had room.

Believe it or not I think that Turbo should be off his bike a bit more in that pic

I get way off to keep the bike up a bit more. Leaves some angle in reserve for any need to tighten my line up a bit.

witht the standard rearsets, I couldn't get off of the bike any further. That was as far as I can go.

I was just remembering how hard it was to get off that 999R they had at the bike show. You're right about the tank making it hard to move around.
