'So good it makes the ZX10R, R1 & Blade feel slow...'

The above is a quote from today's group test of the four superbikes in MCN (UK).

I am at work so I can't scan the full four page test but here is the conclusion:-

'A New Class Leader
Regardless of whether you're riding on road or track, going fast or slow, the new GSXR1000 is a big step ahead of the competition.
Last year's group test winner, the R1, is the runner up here. While it still impresses thanks to it's superb build quality, styling speed and smoothness, it's disapointing on track compared with the Suzuki.

The Honda is third, handling both road and track duties with ease
and confidence, but it just lacks the fun factor of the other three bikes. However it is the joint cheapest bike here with the Suzuki.

The superb ZX10R brings up the rear. This aggresive green machine is the weapon of choice on the track and for going bonkers on the road, but it's too single-minded for many riders and can be intimidating for some.

The GSXR1000 manages to combine the best bits of all the other bikes, and then some. It doesn't just win this test, it absolutely walks it.'

All the bikes were dyno'd :-

GSXR - 159.2bhp/80ftlb/166kg
R1 - 151.8bhp/72.1ftlb/172kg
ZX10 - 151.8bhp/76.3ftlb/170kg
Blade - 151.5bhp/76.4lbft/179kg

The game never stands still, roll on next year, - we'll be back!

Not for nuthin but the dyno #'s on the non-Suzuki bikes seem a bit fishy. I've never seen those 3 so close in #'s before.

R1 - 151.8bhp/72.1ftlb/172kg ????????????
ZX10 - 151.8bhp/76.3ftlb/170kg ??????????
Blade - 151.5bhp/76.4lbft/179kg ??????????

Try this. This is a US dyno. weee
This GSXR pulled 165hp and 82lbs of torque on the same dyno, with the same fuel and the realitivly the same conditions as the R1 (156hp), ZX10R (158), CBR1K (152), Busa (162) did........It's all relitive. Given the same Dyno, same fuel, and the same climate controled building......a 2005 GSXR1000 made more power than any other bone stock bike ever strapped to the KWS Motorsports

YAWN Weeee

Yeah, And I'm yawnin at your 159hp figure. It won't do you any good. And it won't do 95% of these squids out here on the streets any good either. But a Ducati?????? That could get you "laid" EVERY weekend.

That 165hp or whatever is only going to help you out if you're racing Superstock or somethin. It won't do you any good re: the day to day. The ducati????? Well if the wife isn't in the mood, I can just let the next chick pet my Ducati and she's ready to jump into bed.

You know it's true.

Ducati (pronounced: Doo-Cat-eeee) is a focused machine. It's not made for the drag strip but still runs a respectable ET nonetheless. About 10.3 in the quarter. Not too shabby for a chick magnet eh? Lower the bike and I'm sure it could go quicker.

What's your point. So the Gixxer will most likely run high 9's. Wooptie doo. If I was drag racing, I'd get a Turbo Busa and run 7's.

Here's how the bikes rank in my book.

Top Speed: Ducati 7 Gixxer 10
Looks: Ducati 10 Gixxer 5
Chick Factor: Ducati 10 Gixxer 5
Track Prowess: Ducati 9 Gixxer 10
Ease of use: Ducati 9 Gixxer 7
Weight: Ducati 7 Gixxer 10
Resale Value: Ducati 10 Gixxer 5

Total: Ducati 62, Gixxer 52

Looks like the Duc is a better bike.

Let's look at racing.

Ducati Desmosedeci: Fastest bike in the GP paddock. Suzuki GSV What???

Ducati 999: At Qatar last week, had the fastest speed down the front straight. Yes, faster than the mighty new Gixxer.

Ducati makes fast bikes. They just don't translate to their street models. But that's all good, because the V4 trend is going to change that.

So who won? weee

The rider factor kicked in. Corser and Kagayama happen to be better riders. But when the throttles got twisted on that front straight and skill wasn't a factor, the Duc was fastest. That's my point.

Nice try. But NOPE!!!!

Not to mention, the Ducati is down by 15hp to the Gixxers. And the Gixxers still get rocked on the straights.

It's called DESMODROMICS BABY!!!!!

Within the next decade, every bike will be a Desmo.

HAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAA!! I have a couple of those in my toolbox.
Turbo, I highly doubt that all bikes in the future will have desmo (belt driven cams), I mean cmon, you're kiddin me right?
As far as what is better, faster, more agile, whatever, who gives a shit anyway, does it mean that someone with less experience can just jump on this bike, & woop everybodys ass? I doubt it. I cant wait to woop up on some squids this summer, & I'm still ridin my outdated, old ass 954.

The 954RR is a totally underrated bike. I could do some serious damage on it.

Even if the Gix was puttin 200hp to the rear wheel, it could never make these other bikes feel slow. Maybe an F-15 EAGLE could make them feel slow. Short of that........ Articles like these are written by editors that are being PAID OFF. NOBODY that rides these bikes is gonna say. "GOSH THESE BIKES FEEL SLOW".

C'MON!!!!!!!!!!!

uhhh, who paid them last year? Kawasaki? Forget the power, the new Gix will be the best handling from Japan! Right Turbie. Old, wish you could ride Gixxie you would know how much faster she is than my 954. weeeee

I'M planning on it bro! You know me! I like 'em all and I have a special place in my heart for the Suzis!!! But... I know this. Maybe cause I'm gettin old... I don't know. But my 54 will NEVER be slow.

YEAH! Maybe the new Suzi ROCKS! She's faster! I can handle that. But any editor that has the ballz to say these other bikes are slo??? He's NO fucking rider.

I really believe the 954RR with a Scotts steering damper is Hondas best bike.

To this day I can't get over how agile it was when I rode it.
