Any VA local? Can someone tell me some other good roads, besides Skyline Drive, around the Front Royal, VA area? I'm planning a bike trip this summer, from Philly, PA. I know that Skyline Drive will be crawling with tourists. I'm looking for roads similar to "The Dragon" in TN, but understand that I wont find something that good.

you might want to ask 1sic954rr since I remember him saying he lived near PA and he knows of the roads there...

I live in central pa, near harrisburg.

There are some decent roads around here... but none even close to the dragon.
Just alot of nice roads with pretty good scenery!

My local faves are Rt.74 from Port Royal to Carlisle
Rt 225 from Sunbury to Dauphin
Rt 233 from Mt.Holly Springs to Caledonia
The entire length of Pa Rt 30 from Philly to Pittsburgh

ANd a nice ride in northern Maryland, Rt 77 from Thurmont to Hagerstown through Catocin St. Park...

But that doesn't really help you much cause it's out of the way from Philly and Virginia...

Thanks for the info. I grew up in Indiana, PA (western PA) and have actually road from Philly to there. I've taken Rt. 30 over two of the mountains and I agree, it's fun. I'm looking to travel down near Skyline drive in June and wanted to know about some good roads there.

That's cool.

Skyline Drive is an awesome ride in its self. I plan on going down there this summer too. I rode it on my old GL500, but I'm sure the 954 experience will be alot better!
