Didn't take too many.

These were taken at the top of Bear Mtn in NY state.

Can't believe how clean the roads are already!! Must be all the rain we had in the last 2 weeks. We didn't get to crazy on the way out there because we were expecting sand in every turn. But on the way home was a different story

Bikes in order from closest to farthest..........

2. My brother Mike's R1

They tore down your diesel...um, gas station Turbo. I wonder if it has anything to do with contaminated soil?????

We played at the round-about in front of the station for a while. Too many cars so no knee dragging. Close, but no cigar.

Now that we know the roads are in good shape, we'll hit that run real hard next time. We hit the road at 7am to get an open road. You'll have to leave Queens at 6:15 to meet us or you could meet us at Bear Mtn and ride with us on the way back Turbo.

When I go to Bear Mountain, I usually leave around 6:30am anyway.

By-tor the roads are in good shape up there? I was curious after this long winter we had.

Love the view from up top of the mountain there.

As for the roundabout in the park- if it get's too crowded with cars hit the road up to the east- it has a left hand U-Tun. The turn goes up hill and connects you with the West bound side, then it has a U turn after about 400 ft to go east bound again. The beauty here is that it changes elevations, one comes up hill, the other down. IT will get you ready for those trackdays - if you go to Willow in Ca....LOL

oh and for added fun, when you are at the top of the mountain, get moving at an idles pace on the way down, then have everyone kill the bikes and race down without power. Loser buys gas.

It's harry because the roads are a little shotty and you can get enough speed that someone will want to hit the brakes. We usually fire them up again at the stop sign at the bottom of the road.

I cant picture what road you are talking about. Can you punch up a map from mapquest and show me the route # ? Sounds like a fun spot.

Where are you from 4passin? You from NY? Hook me up with some RT #'s of some roads that you hit. I'm always looking for a new playground

NJ- Central- hate the city- sorry for all you 5 borough guys, just not my bag.
As for local roads, nothing worth coming out for..... we have a few that F around on.

If you are in the roundabout - not the one at the bottom of bear mountain which is about "20 feet" in diameter, the one that is in the park part- Harriman State park. This roundabout is by the lake. It's about 500 ft in diameter which you can scrape all day long at a good speed.

Take one of the exits and there will be uturns in the center of the road. The road is discernable in the fact that it goes up hill to start- usually pull a nice long one wheeler going up. Then it splits from a 2 way toa divided 2 way with grass in the middle. From there it has the middle Uturns, which are great for more lefts. No stop signs so you can just "yield".

I looked up the map on mapquest, by using Bear mountain NY, then I went left to the harriman state park side. Here is a blow up of it with the spots where I think it is in- circled in red:

the road coming up from the bottom left is called 7 lakes drive.

red road is palisades pkwy

This is not the one that is behind the big field where the bear mountain house is. You kind of go up a little hill to get on the same level with the field, then there is a shitty little circle.

Also not the same as the one at the end of the Palisades Pkwy.

so... which roundabout are you talking about that is near the diesel station?

maybe it's one I need to check out...

Next time you guys head up there, throw me a PM. I willl try to get a few friends to cruise up there with me. Right now the house is taking priority on everything, so I will need executive level approval to head out..LOL

If we go you guys can teach me a thing or two...

The round-about I'm talking about is on the east side of the Hudson. You have to cross the Bear Mountain bridge and go right. You then follow the windy assed downhill road (real fun if no traffic and you can go up and down a bunch of times) to the bottom and you'll come to the round-about. Probably a good 100 to 130 (maybe more) feet across and it's egg shaped for nice decreasing and increasing radius fun. You have to get there early though or the site seers take the fun out of it. The toll on the bridge is only $1 and you only pay going east so it's worth it if you ask me.

never crossed that bridge, wasn't worth the $1 to us...but a "follow the windy assed downhill road (real fun if no traffic and you can go up and down a bunch of times)"

sounds tempting.

Get there before 8 am and it will be the best dollar you spend

Blaze down it, run around the round-about 4 or 5 times and then head back up.

Repeat as many times as you wish...........

When I had the Gix1K, I killed that oval. You can battle with your boys to see who can get around faster and when you end up on the tail of the next bike, you win. FUN GAME!!!!! 8)

Cars ruin it though. You gotta be careful too and make sure your tires are in good shape.

if cars ruin it, hit the one in the park, that I am talking about there is barely a car around... we usualy stop if a car comes and run off to the other U turn one I have been telling about.
Other then that we stop from being dizzy.

here's one I dug up from 2 years ago.

We are on a service road off in the shade. This is right across from the u turns if I remember right...
Good turn out that day, I hate riding in groups. I am always the leader in the first position though. I can't ride anywhere else... it get's me frustrated.
