I just bought a ohlins rear shock,
Is it pretty easy to put on?
Any tips?

I am sure looking forward to it,
I have a bunch of new shit that I have yet to put on:
finally got the PCIIIusb, haven't looked @ what maps are available, will have it mapped here in the next month or so
got the short V-stacks,
got a new black upper & a new black tank, all black now baby
MagKnight Magnetic Tank Bra/Protector Carbon Fiber, to cover the red on the tank

shit I have put on in the last few weeks:
Harris rear-sets W/ C/F heel guards
AKRAPOVIC full race,
powder coated swingarm tag bracket,
Delrin bar & swingarm sliders to match the frame slider

New gear:
SHOEI X-11 Vermeulen
Alpinestars GP Tech Gloves
Vanson Mark 2 Cobra jacket, looking @ the pants to match

All that in the last couple of months,
next will be:
Heli-bars, Hotbodies under tail, gear indicator, forks rebuilt, wave rear rotor & some sort of LED turn signals up front
then finish up the stunter

I will then be self actualized

But help me out on tips on the shock

yea I have been dropping some $ here lately

I dropped out of school this semester, so I have been working a bunch
I have been getting pretty good deals on most of the stuff though
I got a tank off e-bay the description said "perfect":
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4537990921&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

it has been the worst e-bay experience I have ever had, the tank looks like complete shit & had a big dent & paint chip from shipping, his packing was dumb, it had about a dozen little rock chips that had begun to rust
the clear coat was worthless & to top it off, he said he didn't have time to take the 3 bolts off the gas cap & asked if I would send the cap back to him
you need the key to get it off, I told him if it stolen he need to make it better
he said he was offended,
so your just dumb, I would rather deal w/ a thief than a complete dumb-ass
never got the key... filed a investigation, paypal says they will give me a refund

so I bought a new one, it was 2x's more & got a upper
I now have a brand new upper & tank, almost like a whole new bike, much much nicer than putting some old beat up crap on.

Changing the shock is pretty straight forward. You can't use the rear wheel stand. You can block your bike. I shoved a bar through the swingarm bolt and used jack stands under the bar and I didn't even have to remove the exhaust. It's also easier if you remove the rear wheel.

Just put on an Ohlins rear last weekend. I put a large pry bar (digging bar) on the sub frame, through the rear peg mounts. Then put each side of the pry bar on a step ladder to raise the bike. The directions that came with the shock were actually pretty good. The only difficulty was re-inserting the top bolt back through the mounting bracket. It helps to have an extra pair of hands. One twists the shock slightly while the other lines up and inserts the bolt.

Let me know if you need torque specs or anything.

Good luck...

p.s. Sounds like you have, will have, a smoking 954

I haven't even snapped on the PC yet, been working to pay for this shit & don't even have time to put it on much less enjoy it

& my brother re-upped & shipped out this last weekend, so I was w/ him

I haven't put the upper on, I want to do something nice for the turn sig. I don't really like anything out there

I kinda like the watsen design, but they say there behind & will take till June to ship
I really like their Suzuki

any ideas?

I may do the euro thing & block off the holes, but the blocks look like crap too
I wonder if you can split the signal & do both? anybody know?
will that blow enough current to slow the fast rate?
I have ordered the tank but haven't got it yet,
same for the shock, thanks for the tips

I installed one on my bike.... wthout removing the pipe or the wheel. The hardest part is supporting the sub frame up while the old shock is out..... I used 10 ft A frame ladder over the back of the bike and used tie downs to hold up the rear section..... Its all I had at the time.

Worked like champ.... HOWEVER WARNING if you change the rear shock out it will make the front feel like CRAP. I am 210 Ibs so the bike was soft to start with but after I installed the rear shock it just felt like CRAP... My fix was a set of Ohlins R&T forks but you could just change the sprin gs in the stock forks.

Hope this helped.

yea I would like Ohlins forks, but i think i will just get new guts for the stocker, the local shop says they will rework them for $200
should I do them my self, or let someone who knows how to set it up right?
I am 235lbs so i need something

another thing should I wait to put on the short v-stacks till I get it mapped?

Sounds like some cool mods.

Just curious, why the Ohlins for a stunt bike?

next will be:
Heli-bars, Hotbodies under tail, gear indicator, forks rebuilt, wave rear rotor & some sort of LED turn signals up front
then finish up the stunter
should have read:
next:
1) gear indicator
2) undertail
3) LED sig
4) Heli-bars
5) wave rotor
6) finish up the stunter (different bike)
