: Recently picked up a 1000RR
dorao 04-25-2005, 11:12 PM I broke down and got myself a bike again, even though I can only ride it half the year up here in WI. Getting back into motorcycles after a somewhat long blank and man I missed having one :). I rode it into work today; take it out every chance I get.
I have never modified a motorcycle before, but I have a feeling its inevitable (I couldn't hold off on the car :p)... Eventually, I would like to take it to a track day when I finally get around to picking up some leathers. I'm sure I'll have questions for you guys.
Anyway, anybody else in S.E. Wisconsin?
Thanks,
dorao

and heck yeah, I'm up in Port Washington right now but am relocating to Sullivan in a week or so...
You rode to work today? cool, same here, weather was alrtight after 10am though I work second shift. wind was Wicked to say the least and made the heavy lean angles intersting on the backroad way to work. little wet on the way home tonight though.
Jim's the name (gnt) and hit me up about riding. I know almost every single kick ass road to ride on from here to timbucktoo.
Glad to see another fellow wisconsinite on board.
Where'd you get you bike from?

It was a little chilly going into work and a little windy on the way home. I used to ride my bike year round when I was in Japan (rain, shine, typhoon, etc) but I'm not 'that' gung-ho anymore.
Anyway, I picked up my bike from cedar creek which is right in your neck of the woods. Didn't get the best deal, but don't think I got raped either.
Moving to Sullivan eh? Thats pretty close... We definately have to go out riding (hopefully, I can keep up :).

gntbldr 04-26-2005, 02:53 PM don't let cedar creek do your 600 service. they screwed up on one of my 954's and the oil filter blew off at 150 in a curve. and it was the biggest fiascal getting them to man up and replace the bike.
I've got even more horror stories than that with dealing with them.
I'm probably going to be getting my 1krr from this Honda dealer in Johnson Creek. kant remember the name right now.. brain fart.

The sales person at cedar creek was a nob... I got along with 'steve'(?) the manager just fine though. I was planning on doing the service myself.
Are you referring to 'Robs Performance' in Johnson Creek? I went there to look at the scorpion ex700 helmets, but they didn't have the one I wanted in stock. Guys there seemed nice, but the prices weren't that good from what I could tell.
Speaking of gear, I want 2 peice leathers, but nobody around here has a good selection. I went to Course Motorsports, but they only had 2 mens suits... Is there anywhere around here that has them in stock? Chicago?
Thanks,
dorao
gntbldr 04-26-2005, 05:24 PM yeah, Steve's a great guy used to work with Mark Boche of Motosports factory in Waukesha at some other place till he started up Cedar Creek.
and there's that place in Madison (a lil north of) that is fairly large right off 94 on the east side of the freeway but the Best time to check out leathers is at the AMA's at road America on June 3rd 4th and 5th and the prices are unbeatable.
otherwise neilsen's in IL might have a large enough selection.. don't know where exactly it is but they are always at the Chicago bike shows.
heck, did you even call up Lake Country in Waukesha or Motosports Factory?

Ahh, cool. I can wait till June for the leathers... I'm borrowing my buddy's old gear right now and that'll hold me over. I've been to Lake Country and they didn't have any in stock, but not to motorsports factory; I'll check them out.
BTW, you going on the crud run?
Masuo
gntbldr 04-28-2005, 05:33 AM forgive me for my ignorance but what's the crud run?

Supposed to be fun. I've done something similar with my car (+ logging trails).

gntbldr 04-29-2005, 07:49 AM man, I'd love to but I'm moving this weekend from Port to Sullivan...
dang.
resuscit8u 04-29-2005, 10:42 AM depending on the weather, I will be doing the Crud Run. Welcome by the way.
Rob's will work with you on the prices, don't take them at face value. They are an excellent Dealer. GNT- when you are ready to buy, go talk to Aaron and mention me (Jim Lilly) and he will hook you up with a deal. He gave my friend Mark from Milwaukee an excellent deal on a leftover Silver 04, and I know they have a red leftover still too, possibly others.
Seems like a lot of Wisconsin Peeps are 1000RR owners. There are two here in my little town alone, and I know quite a large number of others.

Hi there,
Great weather today, rode into work of course :).
You had mentioned:
"Best time to check out leathers is at the AMA's at road America on June 3rd 4th and 5th and the prices are unbeatable."
I can wait a month (still borrowing friend's gear). I'm completely new to AMA events though, do I just go www.roadamerica.com and buy tickets?
Thanks,
Masuo

I was out there; Ended up camping at the KA campground a little south of RA with some friends. Had a blast; I did look around the carousel camp site but there were too many people. I should have gotten your number.
Anyway, I've been riding out toward Palmyra and Eagle quite a lot. There are some fun roads out near you :).
gntbldr 06-14-2005, 02:44 PM yeah, I was there but walking around mostly or riding my bike around the grounds with the woman on back. Loved that storm on sat. night!
you betcha there are some Awesome roads around the south kettles. There are more than a few I could tell you about or show you someday.

Bike is in the shop and they are looking into my oil burning issue. Hopefully I'll get it back soon; I wanted to ride to work today :(.
Anyway I'd very much appreciate a tour of the south kettles :D.
