: Hmm, take a look
dmi954 04-27-2005, 09:01 PM Okay, The owner before me told me that he put a bigger sprocket on the rear, so i was guessing he went up a few teeth, but, i took a picture of the sprocket.... and look....

now, i'm pretty sure the stock chain is 530? right? and if i'm reading that right, the sprocket is a 44 tooth (up 1) AFAM brand, right? so if it's a 44t, would that me he had to go down a tooth in the front also? because of the 520, thanks!
NavyMac 04-27-2005, 09:17 PM stock is 530, the only way to know for sure what he did up front is to take a look...
it's two screws.
dmi954 04-27-2005, 09:18 PM yeah, 2 8mm's right? bad thing - all my tools are at the shop, so i can't do jack..
NavyMac 04-27-2005, 09:24 PM yup
Anonymous 04-28-2005, 05:18 AM No, he didn't have to change the front. that 520 is the size of the chain not the length.
olderRR. 04-28-2005, 08:47 AM He did a conversion from the 530 chain to the 520 chain. The 520 is a 'lighter' chain (Not necissarily 'weaker') The reason for doing this is because a lighter chain produces less gyroscopic affect and results in better handling, i.e.., quicker turn in, etc. and less over all weight. However, a 520 chain and sprockets will wear out a little quicker. The chain in the picture is a quality chain, but you should check it for excess wear. If you can pull the chain away from the back of the rear sprocket, it's probably time for a change. Replace your sprockets and chain as a set.
:D
Flightmedic954 04-28-2005, 11:37 AM if you put some chain lube on it every now & then it will last longer
I do it every 250-300miles
Anonymous 04-28-2005, 02:25 PM man i dont know about you guys, ive run my stock honda chain for almost 10k, never lube it, its dirty and ugly, and its fine, occasionally i run the rear on a stand for a half hour and pour kerosene on it, cause i found a 5 gallon drum of the shit, but 2 winters, tons of rain, snow, no lube, and all i do is top redline shit, and its fine, no kinks, nothing, people baby their chains, i dont see the need, if it fucks, buy a new one, really all the lube and time would equal well over 100$
i can understand the necessity on better shit though

if you change to 520 you have to change both sprockets...who knows what he replaced the front with?
dmi954 04-28-2005, 08:56 PM okay, i just got done taking the front cover off, i've got a 15 on the front, so it's -1 +1 that makes sense,... considering it'll 3rd wheelie like mad ;) my concern now is, how do i fix my speedo? i know it's way off now.... Any ideas?
NavyMac 04-29-2005, 01:12 AM speedo healer or yellow box are the two options...
