I was out riding yesterday when I had a really funky thing happen. I was cruising at about 35 mph coming up to a stop light when all the sudden the a red light flashed on the instrument cluster and the bike just went dead. My rpm dropped and the speedo shut off. I coasted to a stop and turned the bike back on. It fired right up and I cruised home with no problems. What was that all about? Anyone have this happen. I have 9,300 miles. First time this has happened.

Re you running a stock bike? Do you have a chip installed or are you using a Power Commander? Sounds like a computer hiccup to me. Is it possible that your left foot slipped and hit your kickstand? The kickstand swith will do the same thing if the bike is in gear and the kickstand is down. Just some thoughts

yup the flashing red is mainly the EFI
try disconnecting the battery for a minute and reconnecting it.
it's possible that you have a plug loose to your EFI and/or injectors.
them plugs are under the tank to the right and at the back. kinda hard to get to.

the comp probably just shit itself. check the connectors on the bike, wiggle the ignition key while it's running, etc. these things happen from time to time. unless it happens again i wouldn't really worry about it.

I called the dealership and they said it was a check engine light sensor. There could be a host of problems. The bike needs to be hooked up to a computer for diagnosis. If anyone has this happen to them have it checked by the dealership.

Go to the dealer.....yeah right.......they are the only ones who can solve your problem.....and at 75 dollars an hour too :x . Sorry if I offend but I have a general distrust of mechanics, dealers and the government. They all want your money and dont care how they get it..........they dont even have the courtesy of giving a reach around when they are done sticking it too you. Sorry,,,,,,,please excuse the sarcasm"""""had to vent a little. Try the ground disconnect first, save your money.

No way, if your check engine light was on, then, maybe.... (if you couldn't figure it out) but with it being a fluke that happened once, and the light went off... no way would i be going to the dealership, save yourself a few hundred dollars and learn something about your bike at the same time~ play with it ;)
