im just curious about how many people pull out of these with no problems when they occur at like 100 mph?

whose had them, how often do they result in wrecks etc

I had a about 5 last year, they are really bad when you dont have a steering dampner, but after the dampner was installed all i get now are a few wiggles, which is no big deal I usually just keep on it. Before I got the steering dampner they scared the shit out of me there isnt much you can do when they happen all you could do is hold on for dear life, but after a while I could almost predict when they are about to happen.

had one scare pre-damper...now the ohlins does its job well, no slappers :)

I've never had an actual "slapper". I attribute that to having a pretty stable bike (RC51), but I have had some unsettling wiggles under hard acceleration, or when setting down the front tire. Now that the Scotts damper is on, I can't get it to wobble at all.

when you get a tank slapper give it throttle if you can and don't fight it. Let the bike dance under you and power out of it.
Shall I say it another way?...lol

I have had them on an r6, my superhawk, and my 954 was the worst. What I mean by the worst is that it did more swaying wiggles than slappers but close to 'em. and as with everyone else they were almost completely diminished with the ohlins.

edit: I am adding what I wrote in the dyno topic since it best here in this topic.

the most common of slaps comes from a small mound in the center of the lane in a mild right (or left but mostly right for the reson of the bikes design) sweeper and your right side of your front tire clips the left side of the tiny mound.
the type of pavement you are on will depict the severity of the slap to a certain degree too.
I used to get slaps in almost any sweeper at or over 130mph with a medium lean angle while slipping in and out of the two tire ruts from all the vehicle packing down the pavement.

different tires also had different slap characteristics too... the stock 03 battle axes were more sensitive than the pilots on the roads by me.

but seriously with the hp these things pump out and the weightlessness of them they ALL should come stock with dampers for that one time that

i've had a bunch of the twitchy, accelerating over transitions in the pavement kinda slappers, but the worst was a 140mph(indicated) slapper going around a sweeper. tank to tank..........i just eased up my grip and tried to roll on the throttle and it straightened up. good thing too, because i was still trying to make the curve. my bud was a lil ways behind me on his 954 and he hit the same spot and the same thing happened to him, but he was going about 120. we got to our stop and looked at each other like this  and we didn't have to say a word ....LOL. took a while for my nuts to come out of hiding too :P
