How was your first trackday of the season?

Got any pics?

I'm headed to Pocono FUSA on the 21st.

It kicked ass!!!!!!!!!

It took me a few sessions to warm up to the bike but by the 3rd session, I was rockin that bike like nobody's business. I was passin guys out in the expert class. I only got passed by 2 racers and a few orange jersey instructors. I've got about an hours worth of footage from the onboard video camera. 2 of the sessions were from my bike in the expert class and one session is from my brothers bike in intermediate. My boy Pete layed down his 1000RR in the last session trying to keep up with me. In his defense, he can barely move his left knee and his foot hangs off the peg. He wears through a left boot every trackday  Not good on a left hand dominant track. He's fast for a 50 year old though  I'll try to figure out how to upload and host the video.

I'm waiting for the photographer to upload the pics to his site. A chick I know from a few different forums was taking pictures of me too. I should be getting those soon. I think you'll be impressed by my form. One of the instructors was impressed to see me on his ass for a few laps before the checkered flag was waved.

I need race tires!!!!! I can't complain about the M1's but I was reaching the limits of adhesion. I did just pick up set of 120/180 Pilot Powers on my way home from the trach though. Can't wait to try them out, especially the 180 rear. I'll run the M1's at one more trackday though.

I'm still flip-floping if I should go to Loudon or Pocono on the 21st.

Nice!!!! Hell, I'm excited for you. You should come with me to Pocono. A couple of guys from the R1 Forum are going to be there too. There's still a couple of spots left. I'm riding in intermediate. These guys are pretty quick around these parts.

I'm getting Michelin Pilot Power Race for the FUSA day. You gotta come. Please. And that way you can get some footage and post on the forum. That would be sick.

I never really warmed up to FUSA. My only day there was rained out last year. So I might be off the pace in the morning, but I think by the afternoon I'll be getting on well.

BTW,

my bike feels like it loosened up a bit. It's got about 3200 miles on the clock.

I took it for a top end run the other day. Got a bad launch and came up on some cars but still managed to hit 171 indicated. If I didn't let off I could have probably hit 174 or so. My speedo is off by approx. 7 or 8mph so I was actually doing 164mph (164mph is my bikes top speed in stock trim according to the manual). My bike is geared to peg at 170mph (177 indicated).

But what's impressive is how fast the bike gets me there. Last year in the same spot, I was only able to manage 164-167mph. I did 171 once last year but I was in Sean's draft. This time, the bike pulled it on it's own.

Cowls cost $ and you know I love having a cheap bike

+, my wife loves going for rides. If I don't include her in the fun, the fun might go away :?

How much do cowls cost? I thought they came with the bike....

Oh well. Sorry dude. I need to get a two seater for that very reason. So my MV will have to be the Biposto when I get it. 8)

The pic looks nice. I can't wait to see the rest.

Sounds like you had a good time! I wish I went... The weather was perfect for a track day! You and Turbo should come to the open testing day on the 9th or 16th. I'm going to try to do both. It works out well that I have to be in CT on the 10th anyway, so I will just make a little trip out of it. Nice way to roll into a weekend! 8)

Where are the rest of the pics?!

The professional photographer just loaded the beginner group pics onto his site. I hope he has the expert pics up tomorrow :D

Turbo, I think I'm going to call your guy tomorrow about the FUSA date at Pocono. My brother is in, I just need to hear back from my friend Pete.

Just goes to show that DunFlops suck. Those tires don't even look worn or anything!

maybe thats why they layed it down in what looks like a lowside. doesnt have to be a dunlop to have mold release compound that hasnt been burned off.

I ride on pirellis myself, but that doesnt mean dunlops suck. go tell duhamel, mladin, or pretty much about ANY ama pro racer that dunlops suck and see what their reply is lol

That lowside was a matter of cold tires and nothing else. That was turn 6 of the first lap of that session. He passed me in a braking zone before The Bowl going at least 15-20mph faster than me. I go pretty easy for at least 1 to 1.5 laps to get the tires hot.

My friend TJ did the same exact thing on his Triunph Speed Triple in his second session. He did it in the same exact spot on his first lap. He was on BT-014's with 400 miles on them.

Cold tires suck no matter what the brand.

Speaking of tires,

I'll be running Bridgestones new BT002s at the FUSA day on the 21st. Soft compound Front and Rear. I can't wait.

I was gonna throw them back on after the trackday and sell the bridgestones as take-offs.

Yes, I'll be in intermediate.

I spoke with MetalScorpio. He might be coming with his 180hp 1000RR.

It's really 180 SAE horsepower (188 actual). I've seen the friggin dyno. Insane.
