: 180hp CBR1000RR VS 145hp 999

The CBR1000RR has 180hp to the rear wheel. The Ducati has 145hp to the rear wheel. The CBR rider is 150lbs. The Ducati Rider is 215lbs. He gave the Ducati rider a 7-8 bike length lead and they did a rolling start to make up for the acceleration disadvantage due to the weight. Considering what the Duc rider was up against, the duc didn't do bad at all. When CBR rider passes the duc rider in the vid, they were at 170mph. That's how fast these bikes are. From 24 seconds in the vid to 32seconds the bikes went from 120mph to 170mph. The average bike takes about 20-25 seconds. These bikes only took 8 seconds. The ducati rider is 3 teeth up on the rear sprocket too, so he lost about 10mph on top end. ENJOY

The race isn't as bad as it looks, once the duc rider dissappears from the vid, he's actually right next to the CBR rider for a couple of seconds, then once the CBR rider goes past, the duc rider gets in the draft and stays within 4 bike lengths until the end. Good run for the Duc.

Dude he crushed you,..... um,, I mean the red Duc

The bike is a monster. And it's not a true CBR1000RR. He bored it out. It's like a friggin Busa.

I wonder what would have happened if the Duc rider left the 37 tooth sprocket on??

His camera was in a bad spot. You can't see the duc rider the whole time he's behind the CBR rider to see how close he was.

With the numbers his bike is putting out, I would certainly hope his bike is faster in a straight line.

He did take it easy on the Duc rider, kind of.

The Duc rider is just too heavy. 70lbs is like 10 horsepower. NYCs1000 should ride the Duc so the comparison would be a little better.

Also, When they passed the White SUV, the Duc rider caught a lot of headshake and had to let off of the gas and that kind of messed up the run. You can't really see the headshake in the vid.

When he passed he just shifted into 6th gear. He still had a whole gear left.

MS will tell you the same thing. He saw the headshake and started laughing.

Who's making excuses??? Nobody's making any excuse. Everyone knows that the CBR is faster. The run was not done to beat the CBR. The run was done to gauge how much of an improvement the Duc was over a stock one.

And what the Duc lacks in very top end, it more than makes up for it in handling and braking. It's made for the track only. Not drag racing.

But it's all good ByTor. I'll just take it out on you at the track tomorrow. 8)

Then let me start practicing my excuses.............

1) "It was my first time at that track........"

2) "I was getting used to my new 180 rear..........."

3) "The sun got in my eyes............."

4) "My bike is stock.............."

5) "I needed to take a piss..........."

LOL. His machine is sweet man. I told him that if i had something like that I would only use it to park in front of all the Univerisities around the area and pick up Italian chicks with it, nothing else. I very strong and pulls like hell; like he posted before, his front end just kept jumping on every shift (can realy see it that good on the video due to camera possition) but i was keeping an eye on him the whole time.

About him been in Love...I think so too. I let him out on my bike before his bike was finished and he came back with a mouth full of teeth that he could not close :D

He offered to let me take the Duc around Pocono East tomorrow for a few laps but I run GP shift and I'm scared that I would have a brain fart and down shift an up shift

I can't wait to try it out on the street though.

You should have signed up for tomorrows track day at Pocono.

What amazes me about MetalScorpio's bike is that there is power everywhere. There are no dips whatsoever.

I honestly don't think that the ZX-10R, R1, or the new Gixxer can get a power curve that smooth. That is pure fuckin Honda.

i believe there was a guy that once told me that a duc with 140 RWHP could beat up on just about everything on the road beacuse V-twin power was delivered differently and that it was the equivalent to 170-180 hp in inline 4's??

i'll do some looking

I said 140hp on a twin is equivelent to 160 on an inline four. I'll try to find the thread.

I still stand by that statement. I think I would put a woopin on a stock Honda.

You bet. We'll get this done. Be prepaired to leave Queens bright and early if we want some clear roads to horse around on. I hate traffic!!!!!
Should only take you 30-35 min to get to my place or a coffee shop right off the Merrit Parkway (Hutch turns into the Merrit when you get over the CT border).
