You're such a ham. lol

Don't worry about the quality of the vid. The DVD's I'm sending you have much better quality.

You have a DVD player on your computer? A regular diskett drive won't read it.

I have a DVD drive on my desk top and my wife's laptop. My desktop at home won't read any disks right now and won't even let me view most videos. I have to watch videos on my computer at work or my wife's laptop. I'm on my way to my shop now to watch this video. :P

By-tor, you were all over him. 8) I would have put that front wheel against his knee to shake him up a bit. :P
I'd like to go to the track sometime. Everyone tells me it's really fun. It sure looks like a blast.

I wanted to get him on camera for a couple laps. You see how much I picked up the pace once I decided to dust him  You can hear how much more wind noise there was.

Cool spots in the video.....

1) check out 14:28 and you can see the guy I was comin up on over cook that turn and go off into the grass.

2) It'a hard to see with the vid quality but 14:40 is where my rear end stepped out big time.

That was funny.

I ran off of turn 9 one session because the tires were cold and I went in way too hard.

Just because you were faster than me on the day doesn't make you fast. 1:18s to 1:20s are not fast. You are not fast there. You are just faster than me at the moment. Or should I say, I'm just a little slower than you are.

NYCs1000 runs 10s. Run a 10 and then talk. The experts here run 1:06 to 1:09.

So cut it out. We were both slow as $hit and there is no getting around that fact.

Give me another "FULL" day there and I'll cut a few more seconds off. I'm too slow through the hairpin, turn 9 and every other turn could be stepped up a notch. Give me a set of tires that won't over cook and I'll be able to get on the gass sooner out of turns. I'm sure there is 4 seconds there for sure.

But your right, I don't want to come off as sounding like I'm all that because there is a ton of improvement needed.

Has Shawn seen the vid yet?

Not yet. He's probably at his shoulder rehab session. I'll call him in a few.

Thanks for taking the vid. Videos are such great learning aids. Next time you go, you should run race rubber. That should help you brake later and carry a bit more corner speed.

In the hairpin, I did notice that you kept going wide. Once you get that down and run some race rubber, I can see you cracking into the 12s.

you compare yourself to too many others. as if you are supposed to be fast or something.

stop riding all over the entire place and show some conviction you wendy!

Other than the "who has better form" threads, I challenge you to find another post from me where I compare myself to another rider.

It has never happened. So please don't go on making some stuff up because it sounds good.

And what the hell is a Wendy???

By-Tor

Yeah, the hairpin was giving me trouble. I was turning in too soon. I should have gone in a little bit later and hit the apex at a different angle. It really shows in the vid. Pretty much the same story for turn 9.

hahahaha. makin stuff up.
that's your job!. :P

a wendy is a pansy ass.

and your context is what I was playing with you on.

still did better than I would have done out there.

all I have is a klr...

but then again, maybe I would have made you work for it even if all my bike puts out is 37rwhp weighing in at 458lbs... not including rider...

You and your brother were about 1 second (10 bike lengths) quicker than me through that double apex and about 0.5 (5 bike lengths) seconds quicker on that right/left going onto the back straight. I definately gotta work on those two.

The hairpin used to give me a lot of problems, but I find it much easier if I just brake a little earlier going in because it helps me to set my line better.

Also, look 4:51 into the vid. If you would have been taking turn 9 like I did there, you would have dropped another second between that section of the track leading to turn 1. Normally it's good to finish on the outside of the curve. But turn 9 is different. It has that stupid right hand kink before turn 1, so it's best to finish on the inside of turn 9 or the middle of the track.

At least this is what the control rider told me.

By-Tor
06-24-2005, 10:09 AM
Yeah, that's why I'm saying I should go into turn 9 a bit deeper to turn in later. I turn in too soon so it makes the turn longer bringing me to the outside. I should go in 10 feet more then turn in.

There aren't many landmarks or references at that track to help with braking and turning points. At Loudon I have landmarks all over the place. "Brake at the 3rd cone, turn in at the crack in the pavement, hit the 2nd dotted line on turn out" stuff like that. I'll be better next time for sure.

gee......how in the world did that Honda pass the Duc coming out of a turn and on to a straight. you can't do that to a Duck!!!

pictures and video are 2 different things. when you watch yourself in video, surely you don't think your form looks good?? poor shawn.....he about ran up on you how many times on the brakes?? turbo, you could stand to brake a little later and try to hold your lines better......and use your legs more and glide over the seat when you are getting set up for a turn, your bike will be a whole lot more stable.

good vid all in all.........sure could tell when By-tor picked it up a bit

By-Tor
06-24-2005, 12:08 PM
Mid 130's indicated on the back straight but I'm geared down so I would guess 130. Basically I was ringing out 3rd gear then hit brakes and grab a down shift.

That's interesting, The few times I got on it, I would hit redline in second and then it would be time to brake.

By-Tor

You sure about that? I thought you were using 3rd and 4th gear in the beginning of then 2nd and 3rd later on.

That's exactly what I was doing.

My goals for the trackday were the following:

Being smooth
Getting comfortable on the bike
brake deeper
perfect right hand turns
Keep the bike on two

As the day progressed, I made progress in each of those areas. No, I wasn't anywhere near being the fastest guy out there. But the day was a success for me nonetheless.

so you DID find yourself another boyfriend then, well good to hear turbo! good to hear. :D

now if my bike only did at least 130... hmmph. not even with a turbo on it. lol pun intended. :)

You sure about that? I thought you were using 3rd and 4th gear in the beginning of then 2nd and 3rd later on.

Yeah, I didn't start opening it up until later on in the day when I was using 2nd gear for the whole track. That's when I would redline it in 2nd. It sucked because I would redline 2nd and hit the limiter but there was really no point in switching to third because the time it would take me to make the shift, it would be time to brake.

So basically, I would just hold the throttle steady right before redline in second, then brake. I was caught in between gears for the back straight. If I would have gotten better drives out of the turn leading onto the back straight, then maybe I could have used more of third gear.

If you guys are slow then I should sell my bike. Not many sport bike owners ever come near to that level of performance.

Nemisis,

Do 1 or 2 more trackdays and I garauntee that you'll be picking up the pace. The key is not to wait so long in between trackdays. Sign up for an August date right away.

I'll be going back on the 14th of July with NYSBC. They are a pretty good bunch. Maybe I'll do a couple of sessions with you in beginner.

But if you can't make that one, I'll be doing FUSA on the 11th and 12th with NYSBC and Team Pro-Motion.
