How many teeth can you go up before you have to change your chain?

how about the front sprocket
I just changed it, down one
& it sure is making a lot of noise
have youse noticed the same
I was wondering about the chain
it only has about 1mm of slack @ the back of the rear sprocket
I figured this will wear out the chain quicker
it doesnt sound like it likes turning a quicker radius around the front

12k miles on chain

Yeah, the front sprocket makes more noise with a 15 but I'm not too worried.

If I were to change my rear to a 45 would that effect the speedo?

Any gear change will throw the speedo off.

I dropped a tooth on the front and I don't notice anymore noise than the original sprocket. Maybe the slack in your chain is to tight.

Do you think I will see a big difference in adding 2 teeth to the rear?

two teeth up in the rear is similar to one down in the front. you'll feel more acceleration. now if you went up two in the rear And down one in the front it'll be a totally different machine. with a way lower top end speed.
