oops, sorry. no i took out the mouse sander and took off the busted crap. next step, a little rattle can silver and paint on a black wing for now. maybe this winter i will replace the plastic, i always wanted to do the lowers in silver anyhow. track lowers anyone... not ready to sell them yet but who knows, maybe this winter.

that's crazy that fold up pegs would cause that

did you still have the feelers on them ?

mosmak
08-26-2005, 02:17 PM
i did, but that should not have been any different. i drilled her down on the peg, she would have let loose either way.

but i pulled the other one and i will not add one on the new peg.

I've done what you did(to an extent) at the track but I went into a two wheel slide for about 20' or so all the while putting about 60lbs or so on the right knee puck to the ground and took off about 1/2" on the right peg from the slide.
I pulled out of it,just barely, with delicate throttle control and a lot of balls.

Like you mentioned somewhere else ,mos, if you had been able to get off the seat more (and had on pants w/pucks) you more than likely would not have gone down.
I'll say this though, after riding with y'all, next ride I'm putting om my leathers. :D

mosmak
08-26-2005, 02:36 PM
yeah, i am really lucky. i was off line by dropping the bike down that far, i didn't even know i was going down until i saw dirt haha. it felt good up until that scrape that i heard. there was no way to recover from it, just hold on and take the punishment. i tried to make sure that i held my line even while i was going down. its the best i could do at the time. it had to have been under 2 seconds. that is a long time while going down but there wasn't anything i could do. i WILL remember to shift my weight and not the bike next time.

its tight corners like that at slow speed that seem to bite me on the dirt bike too. (ktm450) i have not been down on the bike in a long time though, on a ride this year i slid the bike on a down hill left turn but i was also going slow, but that was on the dirt and the front tire started to wash out. completely different but same effect on the ground. it sounds weird but its still on two wheels, if you loose tracktion there isn't much you can do but ride it out. if you try too hard to recover then you might highside, which would be a lot worse IMO.

you were doing fine, its just that i would like you to stay staggered more often. it didn't bother me too much but if someone goes down i would hope not to take another rider down with me.... i had a great time with you in our group and i deffinatley want to ride with you again. at least you got to see my stand ups too haha, they were my first on the 1kRR

as you can tell (in the vid) I'm not about to let anyone take me down but myself. I've been riding hard core like since I can remember. was only taken out once by about 15 bikes at once in a turn one pile-up at Aztalan. Had some guys bike stuck under mine and he was kicking my rm250 because he couldn't get it off his bike. LOL so I bent down and picked up the rm by the rear subframe and front fork tube and threw it. don't know how I threw a 230lb bike but I did. I was pissed.

I couldn't stagger too much at times because it would have slowed me down waaayy too much to ride safe through any other line than what I took and you guys would have been constantly waiting up for me, just couldn't have that. naw... I did what I could to ride as fast as I could.
hehehe, just wait till I get me a 1krr. hehehe no worries then. y'all think I was fast on a klr wait till you see me on a sportbike HAR!

dude, watching you whip out the stand-ups, regular pop-ups, and backside rides(wheelieing on the back side of a hill) had me reminiscing (sp?) Big Time! Was Great to watch you have soo much fun.

and the ktm. :D killer bikes they are.
I'm good friends with Mark Boche the owner of Motosports Factory. When I used to ride dirt bikes years ago he used to give me Huge discounts on parts and stuff. I've sent him more than 10 high dollar customers and they've all been treated real well by him and his people.

i had to touch up the lower fairing of a red '04. it's like that metallic sparkle color. took the plastic off, went to a big autobody paint joint. they mixed up a perfect match and put it in a spray can for me (i dont have spray equipment). sprayed it on, looked IDENTICAL. a little wet sanding and buffing and it looked factory. yours is gonna come out great, no worries.

mosmak
08-26-2005, 07:33 PM
well if i can get the cracks fixed, they look good so far, i will save a lot of money if i can just paint them.

I do admit, that was a bit harder riding than I would typically do without full gear on. I had considered it before I left the house. I was feeling pretty good, and the riding was awesome, but yeah, next time with gear.

don't mind at all.
at times many of my posts don't make sense.
there that about does it. hahahahaha :P

ok, on the real, the laugh was an awe of exitement and the "cool" sounded like something the way a kid would say it if they saw something that they really liked eyes lit up and everything.

 8)

man, I can't wait till I figure out how to load up my new smilies through an FTP. (maybe tonight I can plug and chug at it some more.......)

mosmak
08-27-2005, 10:07 AM
thats what i thought, i got primer on the tail and i am going to sand to smooth it out later today, i laid it on thick to cover up some fine scratches. the cracks are fixed btw woohoo.

gntbldr
08-27-2005, 10:10 AM
heck yeah "woohooo" :D
how long before your parts come in?

ah, I got my fingers and even my toes crossed for ya mos. :D

mosmak
08-27-2005, 10:18 AM
its ok, i need to take my time on the plastic anyhow, or i want to have that part done right if i can fix them then i don't need new woohoo. then this fix will cost me a lot less i am sure of that. the lower i might be able to get a paint to match but that doesn't matter as much. i want to get silver lowers someday anyhow.

mosmak
08-27-2005, 04:50 PM
phase 3

got primer on, now test fit or i will jut leave it like that for a while haha.

i forgot.

first i cut the cracks out with a dremel to get rid of the points, they make bigger cracks. i used J-B Weld (JB KWIK) to fill in the cracks and smooth out the rash. sanded it all to smooth it out.
