They have a special edition R1 that comes with Ohlins suspension and Magnesium wheels.

C420sailor 08-26-2005, 02:26 PM i dont like the R6's exhaust at all, and that R1 is gonna be PRICEY. can't say i'm a big fan of the R1 and ZX-10R...they've got no substance. i like my bikes like my ladies: curvy. :D
gntbldr 08-26-2005, 02:27 PM yeah, what's up with that exhaust? Bike is hot as hell and so is the R1. mmmmm
The R1 might be as much as a base model Ducati around 18K if it comes to the States.
I love the new look of the R6. They have pics of the blue one on the R1 Forum.
By-Tor 08-26-2005, 02:46 PM So Yamaha will be running the same R1 platform for a 3rd year? Not a new model for 06?

Changes are internal. Maybe slight cosmetic changes. Kind of like what they did from 1999 to 2000.
Flightmedic954 08-26-2005, 03:01 PM I like the clean undertail of the 6
yea the special edition is expensive
it has 5-6k worth of wheels & suspension alone

C420sailor 08-26-2005, 05:10 PM don't like white. every single bug shows up on it. but i guess that makes it easier for me to tally my kills.
Dan954 08-26-2005, 05:52 PM hell before I bought the r1 with ohlins I'd look for an aprilia haga or edwards they got all of the ohlins and ti ack and the edwards coes with 40mm throttle bodies
Most people with 18K in their pocket would most likely buy a Ducati than the special edition R1. Or they'd save a couple extra G's and copp the MV.
Knucle01 08-26-2005, 11:30 PM not sure what to make of the pipe on the new R6......kinda has the sawed off shotgun look to it. maybe i have to get used to it. anyways....i still wouldnt want it
I love the new R6. I would get one.
1WHEELMAX 08-27-2005, 07:48 AM I love the way that r6 looks from the front.
Streetfighter 08-27-2005, 04:55 PM R6 isn't bad, but the exhaust? Uh oh. Taking from Suzuki. R1 same as the Raven except, whoopdy do, Ohlins shocks?! Fuck that, buy aftermarket and save some money.
Knucle01 08-27-2005, 07:54 PM i keep lookin at the new R6....but i cant stand white, lol.....i dont know why.....but i know i cant stand it, lol. :x :x :x :x
Luvfender 08-27-2005, 09:04 PM They are both real nice...
I agree that the R1 should be undergoing a change by now...

4 grand in suspension work is a nice start and will make you a whole lot faster than 20 more horsepower.

Couldn't have said that better myself.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with the CURRENT liter bikes. The only shortcoming is the stock suspension.
And in terms of the stock suspension, it works good assuming the rider fits right into the design perameters, but their downfall is that they lack adjustability for different riding styles and weights.
Big Daddy 08-27-2005, 10:21 PM I may get the 06 R1. Very sweet bike. Plus I came from Yamaha, Ive always riden Honda but my last bike was a YZF 750, and it was fabulous. Hell Ohlins and Magnesiums come with it. I just might be sold. Another thing I like are the Yamahas high revving engine.
