:D

well for starters I had no idea I missed the smell of a new bike. I smell it when I get on it, when I come to a stop, when I walk around it while it's warming up, and the smell of a new helmet too.
The exaust even has the "new" smell to it.

I am very happy indeed.

So far I have approx 112 mi on it and will be changing the oil tomorrow. I went over the mark that I usually change my oil and that;s around 50-80 mi but I had no choice with taking it to work and all.

for the first 10 miles I ran it WOT with a linear build up (not just hammering it and lugging it until it started to breath easy) and returned it in favor with a fully closed throttle engine brake consistently in all gears at an average rpm of 9-10g at most with a slight breach to 10 to 10.5g.

From 11mi till about 25mi I did similar but r's up till 10 steady with a flirt up to 11 solid and once 11.5

then at aout 30mi I opened it up to 12g still oscilating through the r's in each gear with periodic steady increasing of the r's and occasional full throttle holds from thrid to sixth and up to 12g.

so at 50mi I decided to stretch the freshly polishing cylinder walls and rings a bit more and took it up to a tap of 14 and once for a very brief moment I hit the shift light which is set at what seemed to be 14.8g while redline on the tach is at 15g
but that was in fourth gear and then this is when I kept it up to hit 150 indicated and then backed it back down to not going over 10-11g and heavily oscilating the throttle (accel/decel)
................................
9hrs later (after I got out of work) I let it warm up fully again and then took off into the night.
I played it just as I did from the begining pretty much to the "T" except for I didn't run through the gears much at all. I concentrated on staying in the gear that would let me break the speed limit by about 10mph when the tach read about 9g mostly.
this lasted for the first 20mi.
and from there on I started to let'er rip. But still concentrated on backing off the hard hits with heavy decels.

By now I am feeling fairly comfortable on the bike.
so after I filled it up I went hauling ass down the 2mi of semi-curved road to my house from the gas station.
I go and turn left, going evenly and easily on the throttle and slowly built it up to the scream zone (after 10g) and then the road curved to the right and got a bit bumpy, and then I hit a large lump of buckled asphalt while in about over half max lean angle clipping 110mph at around 11g then and the bike skipped (or jumped rather) from the center of the lane to right on the double yellows. I smiled.

Forgot how much I missed highspeed skips.
forgot how much I missed cresting hills in triple digits and floating all the way to the bottom.
forgot how much I missed riding up the r's fats, letting off the gas and getting immediately back on it and having the bike just dance into the air
forgot that I forgot.

it's great to be back. back in black 8)

so the '05 over '03 is worth the $$?
imo Yes. by far. nut for the average rider they wouldn't notice the benefits that are gained from the handling and the powerplant.

Thanks DubR and mos. :D
and you betta you betta you bet, Turbo.

soooo today I changed out the glitter juice and put in some old fasioned 10w40, let her warm up to 150 and headed out on the highway, was looking for adventure, whatever came my way ;)

They rpm window was no lower than 6g and up to 13 through the hily twistie runs and on the long straights I went up to 14. A couple times I went up to 14.5 breifly.

I am already feeling the motor acting more healthy power wise and also it's throttle response has increased slightly now that I am at 160mi.
Touched 154 today and also slipped the rear out a tad here and there.

Steering is a wee (lol wheelie signoff taking on a different meaning here. :P ) slow but Extremely steady while the bike holds a line with an iron grip all the while floating the front so it skips over minor bumps here an there.

Bottomed out the front end twice so far while cornering and durning one wicked heavy throttle rail I noticed some warble type sea saw action from the front and the rear.
So on my break here at work I am going to go and up the preload on the front by about one turn and up the rebound on the front and rear by a quarter turn.
The compression damp seems to be good for the stock settings on the rear but on the front it's just a hair too fast from relaxed to compressed which is letting the front plow ever so slightly since the preload is too soft for the riding style this 175lb goofball is putting this bike through. So the front compression is going up a quarter too.

When I get two friends with some free time (heck maybe my parents can even help me with this) I'll go through the entire suspension and set it up properly and
Then plug and chug with minor tweaks like I just mentioned in the paragraph above.

Best I can say about this bike is it's fricken Hyper. like a little spasomatic. Not twitchy at all like my 954 was. Somewhat like the 1krr for it's overall stance and composure but with the power delivery of a 04 g1k (tuned down of course) or better yet it almost feels like the 03 gix 750 I rode a few times that my friend used to have.

This thing is nothing like any of the 6's I've ever riden before which include an 02 r6, 01 600f4i, and an 03 600rr.

Yes, of course the 03 600rr and this 05 are Extremely similar but any rider that pays close attention to the slightest pea under the matress would definately take the 05 over the 03 simply because it is better. all around.

Did more than a few backside rides (wheeling at the crest of a hill all the way down the backside of it) and all it takes to do it is go fast enough to make going over the hill a tummy tickler but then just flicking the clutch out with a small rev and the front just floats all the way down the mound.

well, time for me to get my ass back to work!

Congrats on the new ride bro!!! So you went with the tribal version? The 600rr is one bad ass machine. The wife is in love with hers. I told her yesterday I was out clutching up wheelies on hers after I learned on my 54 and she was giving me shit and saying that I was full of shit.

The thing that I'm most impressed about on the 600 is how nimble the bike feels. It shits and gits real fast. It feels so small compared to my 54. I think the only think lacking on the bike is a steering stabilizer. After installing one on the 54 everything else feels real loose. I'll probably eventually put one on hers, but after she gets more experience riding it.

The wife told me to tell you to keep her clean and treat her well!!!

The wife told me to tell you to keep her clean and treat her well!!!

Will do Miss Meatstick. :salute: :)

Tomorrow after I get back from my errands I'll be cleaning and detailing me baby completely and changing the oil again.

I've been working on wheelies with this bike and I haven't found second gear's sweet spot but then again I haven't really tried yet either.

With the ride home last night I worked on more oscilation of the r's and did a couple of shift light hits and high r holds in some sweeps
like 10g feathering it up to 13 through the curve and then up to 14.5g on the straight then back down to 10g and all over again. Total of 10 curves that I was taking at about 100-115mph)

Went and filled it up again, drove it home and parked it at 236mi on the odometer.

Before I went on my way this morning I added one turn to each preload and upped the comp. and reb. 1/4 turn each. Awesome improvement. (I weigh in at 175lbs. and ride aggressively)
Today on the ride to work I rode it pretty much like I will be whenever I got out riding. Minor focus on oscilation of the r's through each gear with more focus on ramping the r's nice and steady through each and every curve and same goes for every gear.
I had a few nice straights to work with so I pulled each gear up to 14.5-15g and backed off when at 165mph (indicated) in sixth.
On one of the straights I got almost a "one one-thousand" second air.

Then I hit the deep woods tight twistie stuff. Massive change in road pitch and down grades and up grades (little and big hills). Pretty much some Isle of the Man TT stuff.

This bike is Wicked fun on the hilly twistie runs!

After the apex of a tight 90 to the right which has it's center on the crest of a small hill I opened it up full for the straight ahead that has a Kick ass jump at about 1/8mi out from the last apex.
Hit that bugger at 115mph and had a Solid "one one-thousand" second air. Which comes out to about 20" height and about 80' launch. The ass dropped just a wee bit but that was because I let off the throttle air fraction too early.
This bike launches well.

so with the bike having almost 300 miles on it I can feel it's now done with it's primary break-in. Running silky and putting out like a True Honda would. ;)

I'll change the oil again when I get home and the odometer will be at approx. 350mi. unless I take the long way home. :D
