from what i've read, the only way to get rid of the "below 3000 rpm surge" is to get a full system or somehow get rid of the htev? am i thinking correctly?

if that's the only way, i will get a full system.

would the low end/mid torque be the same or better with the full system? or would it be worse?

any input would be greatly appreciated!

Dial out the factory spec thottle play to zero and increase the factory idle spec rumps about six to eight hundred and see if that helps. Just be careful in traffic after trying this out and maybe it will work, and if it doesn't, ride in the pipe more. The 954 is a stange beast she lets you roam town realatively in low rpm's and throws fits a little in between because in reality she wants to go like hell all the time. Basicly these bikes just what to be riden wide open, once you get out there with out the worry of shit in the way it works pretty damn good. But yea I know where your coming from, Marine Corps doctrine, adapt and overcome. Good Luck, Peace-Out,T. PS Dyno charts show that full systems mostly improve top end performance in higher rpms without further modification to fuel or valve train.

i'll give it a shot and see what happens.

thanks.

only way to even get rid of the surge with a full system is to run a custom map in a power commander....

in theory if you would disconnect the cables to the htev and rig it open and then tuck the flapper under the air ducts inside the air box And then get the pc and custom map it you should be able recieve the same result without having to buy the full system...

only with the custom map though.

I paid $250 just for the map. It was mapped by the guys that map out the bikes at Road America and it was Saweet!!! SUper smooth in response and had a tiny dip in the low but Nothing as drastic as it was stock.

if i got rid of the htev with a full system, how would the low-mid torque be compared to stock? and if i add a pc3. would it be more? less?

would i benefit much if i just add a pc3 w/o a full system?

-not much benefit with the pc without the full system unless you do as I mentioned before.
-if you got just the full system without the pc it would have not so great low end and would be a downgrade from stock till about 4.5k rpm ...more chug a lug.
-if you got the full system and and a pc3 still not much improvement with some tuneability and the lul would still be there.

only way to get what you are after is by trying the first thing I mentioned with tucking the flapper, pinning the htev open , getting the pc3, and custom mapping it.

if you want a lil more horsepower increase, superb smoothness through all rpms, and complete low end useability then it's full system/pc3/custom map time.

If I could do it all over again I'd tuck the flapper, pin the htev open, pc3, and a custom map.
I Did enjoy the weight savings with the akarapovich evolution full system but I'm still paying that all off...
