It really is ugly. Sad!

ZX-10 = too damn ugly to buy in spite of it's power to weight ratio.
R1 = Nice looking and fast but every squid and their mother will own one
GSX-R1000 = Kind of old news now
CBR1000RR = May be down on power. Bland styling
Aprilia Mille = bang for the buck exotic, nice tail section, ugly front end. The poor man's ducati. :D
Duc999S = down 20rwhp but damn! What a Bike!!!! The best handling bike in the world.

Duc, best handling bike in the world? Did you read the Sport Rider test on Hodgson's 999? The worst part of the package was the chassis and even Hodgson commented about having to compensate for the bike's handling flaws.

The post on the 954 board about the tube frame being key to it's "wonderful" handling sounds like a crock too. If that was the case then the other manufacturers would be using that technology on their prototype GP racers. Especially Honda with it's "win at all costs" ethic. Handle welding a tube frame together is of course more labor intensive than casting, pressing, or extruding frames. Casting, pressing, and extrusion afford greater precision and then there's Geppetto who had too much Grappa last night so now you have asymetric flex patterns on your hand made frame. Those Duc welders must make some insane cheese if it's four times more expensive to buy tubes already rolled and have them welded in a jig.

I'd wager the Hondas being a better a handling bike on any day of the week. This year's AMA series will tell. I don't know if the inline fours are going to be restricted again in WSB, but if Ten Kate runs the 1000rr with backdoor factory support then Ducati will definitely be making changes to the 999. My guess is that at the end of the WSB season the test ride of Chris Vermeulen's WSB winning bike won't have any complaints about handling.

Designs that Honda Stole from Ducati.......

1) Unit Pro link rear suspension was stolen from ducati and Honda patented it first.

2) If you look at the pictures that gntbldr posted in the other post, look at Honda's motor. They NOW stole the Deep oil sump only found on the Duc999S.

Fact: Honda uses ducati engineering. PERIOD

Steel Trellis frames don't flex like cheap aluminum assembly line specials :finger: Which in turn translates to longetivity and better quality.

DON'T MESS WITH ME SON!!!!!!! :D

But don't get me wrong, the honda is badass. I love the bike thus far.

I can't say either way on the Unit-Pro Link being swiped from Duc, but deep oil sumps are nothing new to performance engines and Honda has decided the 1000rr is going to be near race ready out of the box. You could also say they ripped off the DSFI concept except that theirs works and Duc's didn't.

As for flexing aluminum frames, I'll take 'em all day. They're engineered to flex marginally to absorb chatter and keep your tires on the road. Unless Kurtis Roberts lurks here, nobody on this board rides hard enough to come close to fatiguing their frame.

I'd agree the 999 is beautiful looking and sounding bike and if I wanted a two wheel panty remover I'd get one. Or, I could take my $ and pick up a 1000rr, dump some in for pipe, mapping, solo cowl, and maybe supension, plus buy a CRF450R plus gear. Then I'd have a Duc killer and a kick ass dirt bike and not have spent what you did.

Yeah, I read somewhere that Ten Kate may run the 1000rr in WSB with backdoor factory support from Honda Europe.

Don't forget Honda's involvment in Formula One. And since you mentioned it, that fucking robot is creepy as hell. Ever see the Animatrix?
