: My ridng season is already over.
Da999TestastrettaStuna 04-07-2004, 07:02 AM So, I went out for a ride yesterday for about an hour on the bike, and on my way home, some dickhead kid in a Dodge Neon blows an intersection. I'm on the brakes quick but couldn't stop in time. I bounced off of the car and hit the ground.
Ambulance came and got me. Turns out that my left shoulder is separated in three places. The bike probably needs about $4000 worth of work. BTW, Yesterday was my 2 year anniversary. Sucks.
I'm gonna sue the hell out of this kid. When the cops came to the ER to see me, they even admitted that I was in the right.
I'm aiming to sue his insurance company for property damages, which should cover the bike. And compensation for my shoulder. Overall, I'm looking at a $50,000-$100,000 settlement.
Worst case scenario, is that I get no settlement, but I'll get the 1000rr from crossbay and work on the 999 gradually.
Later,
Nate

PS:
I hate to even say this but here goes... This all seems a little to convinent givin your history so post some pics so I dont have to call Bull Shit.....
4passin 04-07-2004, 09:45 AM Nate- Don't sweatthe bike it's only money...
Get a lawyer.... and hopefully that kid has a big insurance company.
Hurry and write down everything that you can remember. Write down what you told the cops, everything... this will help solidfy your story and keep your accounts more credible.
It's hard to put a price on pain and suffering....but go ahead and try.
Don't forget to sue for new gear too... helmet gloves etc...
We totally need pics.....
Da999TestastrettaStuna 04-07-2004, 11:05 AM I need the following:
New Front Fairing
New Turn Signals
Left and right rearsets
shift lever
brake lever
clutch lever
Plastics repainted
Headlight assembly.
I started the bike up fine, all of the damage is cosmetic. The front wheel was fine, the frame looked fine, swingarm and forks were fine. So I'll see what happens. My body hit his car harder than my bike did.
If I wanted, I could be on a 1000RR next month but my shoulder appears to be really jacked up. I hope I don't need surgery.
Stuna,
PM me your lawyer info. I called some people today and they agreed to take the case but my options are still open.
GeNeRaL 04-07-2004, 12:00 PM boy you;re really goin to great lengths to avoid racing stunna! :D

gntbldr 04-07-2004, 02:34 PM my shoulder appears to be really jacked up. I hope I don't need surgery..
I've had a seperated shoulder before and it takes a lot of patience and slow build up to get it back.
If you push it too hard it will take the 4 years to be real good again like I did mine.
With more pain than you will be willing to admit.
so don't push it.
sorry to hear of the bullshit Turbo.
Ol' Boy 51 04-07-2004, 03:17 PM fuck man...damn.

I picked up the bike from the towing company. It's sitting in my van right now. It's not as bad as it seems. But my left shoulder is clicking. I have neck spasms, and my wright wrist is sprained. My right shoulder clicks too but it doesn't hurt as much as the left. My ribs are killing me on the left side. Talk about pain. When I get better, I'll insure my van and take it to whitey's to let him work his magic.
This whole thing really blows. It killed me yesterday to see people riding and I couldn't be out with them.
Da999TestastrettaStuna 04-08-2004, 06:37 AM BTW,
After I get paid, I'll prbably get the 999R. :D

GNT,
Did you have to get surgery on your separated shoulder???
smokinjoes 04-08-2004, 07:24 AM BTW,

Come on Turbo, heal up get your bike fixed , enjoy it. If you get a nice settlement invest it and stop thinking about a buying a bike that will cost you a premium for basically what you already have.
4passin 04-08-2004, 08:42 AM Both my rotator cuffs click and in multiple places....... and sometimes my knees lock and I have to squat to pop them loose...
That's what I get from playing hockey for the last 16 years... still playing....
Friction954 04-08-2004, 09:32 AM wow, sorry to hear that man, we're all glad that you are ok though...
it's too bad about your bike... but everyone is right, it can be fixed, even though it'll probably cost you an arm and a leg... i'm sure you'll be willing to give up at least an arm, since they are both killing you. :D
take care
gntbldr 04-08-2004, 10:24 AM no. no surgery. but if I would have given the ligaments time to contract and heal properly I would have had more mobility and strenth sooner that it all finally came back around.
when you think you are fine and you go to pull on something or lift a pail or something and feel your arm stretch.. that's when you went back a few steps.
as of now my collar bone doesn't raise up out of the joint like it used to but it did for almost 3 years at about .75 of an inch! because I rushed it and stretched the healed ligaments and scar tissue which doesn't have resilience.
just take it easy on your shoulder for the first 2 months. REAL Easy and then work at building it back up slowly at your shoulders pace. not your anxiousnes's pace. And you'll be benching your weight in no time. :)
that's my :twocents:
Anonymous 04-08-2004, 09:35 PM Nate I'm sorry to hear it man, but just remember, "what goes around, comes around"
