The track event requires a $1,000 deposit (per day) which shouldn't be a problem.

Weekday rates (Fridays not included as they are used for race events) are as follows: (This is my quote since I know the guy)

$2,500 for 1-20 riders. This includes one ambulance. In the event that a rider goes down, the ambulance requests a transport vehicle to take the injured rider to the hospital. So the ambulance never leaves and tracktime won't need to be interrupted for long.

Any additional riders (over 20 riders) will cost me $65 per head off the top.

The track provides corner workers. Their rate is $70 per day cash for 8 hours and they do the flag waving in turns 1,3,5,7,9, and the front straight.

After more than 30 riders, I have to pay an additional $600 for insurance.

Camping at the track is allowed but not in the pits. Only by the track entrance. There is no charge for the camping. They won't allow us to camp inside the track due to liablity issues.

There are no weekend dates available unless we agree to April or Oct. Note that when I went last May it was 40-50 degrees in the morning (cold) and warmed up to about 75 in the afternoon.

All in all if I can get 30 riders to go at $150 per person per day, that should cover all of the expenses leaving a few bucks left over. 1000RR members will only pay $110. 8)

The only issue is this. If I do a double header, I may/may not have anyone there to change tires. I'll need to figure that out. Otherwise, everyone should run street tires so we can get 2 days out of them.

Let me know what you guys think. I really want to make this happen.

So far, these are the names of those interested:

Turbo
Resus
By-Tor and Mike
GNT
04cbr1krr
vt954

24 more to go. You guys can invite some of your friends. I only want intermediates and advanced. I will make exception for some beginners but they have to be experienced street riders.

By-Tor

If I go, I'm sure my brother Mike would go too.

11
09-22-2005, 10:58 AM
Also,

If you are going, indicate if you would be interested in both days or just 1. I would much rather make it 2 days since it's such a long drive.

If I have to ride the track by myself on the 2nd day, then I'm willing to do that. So you guys better stay.

By-Tor

Prices sound pretty good. A Monday and Tuesday double header would make the drive really worth it. This way guys could drive out on Sunday which would eat up one less vacation day.

Exactly.

I'm researching a videographer. I'd like to get one for at least one of the days.

Thanks

I'm thinking of a June date

I may have the day formatted as an open track day with no sessions. Just ride 'till you drop.

Then, on one of the days, we can have a mock race! 8) And it should be fair since everyone is not familiar with the track. (except for me but I'm slow anyways lol )

I'll probably do this:

Sunday, get up at 4am and leave at 4:30am. Arrive at Grattan no later than 6pm Sunday evening. Camp out. Talk to the track owner etc.

Monday, Ride (trackday ends at 5pm sharp due to noise restrictions)
Tuesday, Ride, then Tuesday night, camp out once more.

Wednesday: get up at 4am, leave at 4:30am. Arrive back at New York, no later than 8pm.

Back to work on Thursday.

My motor guy just emailed me. He can bring his tire machine and supply a tech but it will cost $$$$ obviously.

Road Atlanta would be even better for Jimmy and about the same distance for us.
Imagine riding there 8)

Road Atlanta is about 17hours from us and there's no way that Resus, Nicky310, GNT could make it.

More of our Core members are in Central America than anywhere else.

I get to have two honeymoons next year, one is a cruise to the Bahamas, the other is a VIR Trackday with some friends from Hondasportbike.net - We are renting an RV for a week and doing the trackday like a pro team. It will be a NESBA day and a bunch of us are getting together.

Motor guy just emailed me again.

His tech is $25/ hour plus travel time and expenses. Bringing the tire machine up is $150

I'm going to include that in the budget.

how about skipping the videographer, we can put cams on our bikes and I am willing to make DVDs for everyone out of the footage collected.

That's an idea.

But I would love to get 3rd person footage with perfect sound quality and crystal clear resolution.

I have a friend with a top of the line digital camera.

You know you are down to come!!!!

It's in Grattan Michigan and it's about a 13hr drive. I'm planning on a June date. I'm going to put a deposit down in Dec or Jan and I'll finalize the dates then. They will most likely land on a Mon. and a Tues.

I'm going to drive up on Sunday and drive back on Wednesday. You should definately try and make it. I'm hoping to have a good Forum turnout.

I can bring along my manual tire changer I have. narry a scratch on my new 600rr rim from a tire switch before. I can switch a tire and have it balanced in a little over 1/2 hour and that's taking the tire off the bike and putting it back on.

Guys, keep in mind that I can't really afford to have folks bail on me at the last minute. I'm putting the money up front and when you guys finally pay, it will be reimbursing me.

already a step ahead of you. I mentioned it to two of my friends I hust have to mention it to rz350. it'd be cool if rz makes it because that bike of his (turbo'ed zrx1100) will Rock that straight.

I'll mention it to my friends that it's money up front whether they can make it or not, it's not a track-day held by some organization, it's "private track useage".

I did mention that to one of my friends and he is in for it too. He's not a member of the board but he's been mentioned before. My budy Tony with his mladin g1k.

my other budy Lynn might go with his f4i. I didn't get to really talk with him before my job needed me to take care of it. Most likely he'll be going too.

you do have a point there, my mpg with my trailer is below 10. on a trip from va back home i filled up 2 times(31 gallon tank) and that was with a jetski inside the trailer. I cant imagine 4-6 bikes, my family and gear.

Guys,

I just realized something...

Turbo - both days
Resus - both days
By-Tor and Mike - both days
GNT and 4 other guys - both days
04cbr1krr - both days
vt954 - both days
MetalScorpio - both days
My motor guy - both days

If we all paid for the trackdays now, or at least put a deposit, I could call and reserve the dates right now. Otherwise, I'm going to have to wait until Dec. to put the $2,000 deposit down for both days.

I could put the money in an escrow account (of sorts) until the days are finalized. Let me know what you think.
