Does anybody have any info. on how dirty or clogged air filters affect top end performance?
I suspect my filters are dirty. I found a dead Bee on my ram air duct vent.

An engine is basically an air pump. The faster it spins, the more air it needs. If there is a restriction, it can only spin up so fast. There is much more to it than that, but that is the basics of the story.
If you think the filter could be drty, then have a look at it.

About how many miles are filters good for before they need cleaned. Also are the stockers reuseable?

Stockers are not reusable, BMCs are though, and are worth 2-4 extra hp.
miles are going to vary, I would check them every 8 thousand

All I know is that I noticed that my bike wasnt running so good so I bought the tune up things and started replacing the plugs and all. When I took the airbox appart it was full of insulation and acorns. Slam full  .
Now that Ive got all that out of there it runs a lot better.

I rode in the rain a couple weeks ago, and ever since it kind of stunk when I rode it. Smelled hot. So I decided to wash it real good, thinking there must be mud or something cooking on the exhaust. I'm scrubbing the exhaust collector and feel something crunch. Looked like a clump of dried mud. Turns out it was a little bird  -- fried to a crisp. Guess I better slow down a little... 8)
Sorry for the thread jack. The dead bee made me laugh.
