I just bought this for you guys to refer to when buying your new bike..... The source of this information is www.cyclecost.com

Dealer Invoice Report
2004 CBR 1000RR

List Price: $10999

Dealer Invoice: $9479
This base dealer cost includes freight to the dealership.

Assembly Cost: $TBA similar models are $34 per Honda dealer pricesheet
Each dealership has its own method of figuring cost of assembly and preparation for sale.
There is no reimbursement by the factory for this cost to the dealer.

Ready to sell cost: $9513

This model Honda motorcycle has 5% (of MSRP) dealer holdback.
This holdback money is paid to dealers in April or October for units that are sold to U.S. residents within the previous 6 months. Dealers must pay Honda the full "Dealer Invoice" price and wait 1 to 6 months after selling the machine to receive their dealer holdback.

Wholesale Incentives: none for this model.

Retail Incentives: none for this model.

The "Ready to sell cost" is the cost of the machine sitting on the showroom floor with NO PROFIT to a dealer. Dealers do not stay in business very long by selling machines for no profit.

Many dealers charge additional fees for "Freight and Setup" over and above the selling price of the machine. Add the "Selling Price" to the "Freight and Setup" charges and subtract the "Ready to sell cost" to determine the PROFIT a dealer is asking to make.

The truth comes out. I wish people would understand that profits in retail business is not as high as one would expect. I wish I could sell my shit for less with my business but someone has to pay the over head.

Not true for all the rest of the crap that the dealers sell, all the parts are marked up aproxamatly 40% over dealer.

what i don't like is the fact that someone (me in this case) could buy a brand new 03 954 last year, and look to get a 1000 this year, and the dealer wouldn't even come down in price... i bought the 954 with cash, and he can't even give a deal... i guess i won't get the 1000 then...

Thanks for the info!!!! I'm not sure how much it'll help me though. Dealers in my area (SF Bay) are sticking pretty close to sticker. Best deal I've found so far is $11k OTD. I want to trade-in my '02 954 -- I just don't feel like selling it. It's pristine with only 3200 miles, and I'd probably get a decent price privately. Best offer I have from a dealer is $6K.

Anyone have other SF Bay quotes/experiences to share?

Thanks!

I just had a friend check this pricing at the dealership he works for and he said that he could not disclose what they paid but he said this pricing was extremely close.....

Hey Elmel!

I live in Pleasanton. Did you get your quotes from Hayward? That's where I got my 03 for 10,300 OTD 6 months after they came available.

I called a company in LA and they sent me a purchase order for cheap and I faxed it to them and they said they would match it. Easy as Pie...

Do you want to get a crew together for Infineon?

I got mine at $9595 + tax + tags (No Processing fees, No Freight, No Putting together fees). I can ride it for a few months and sell for no loss... (I think)

It is a great bike. I had 2 F3s and a 929 before this. I was trying to take it easy for the first few hours of riding but could not hold myself when I saw a stretch of highway and got her up to 163mph in no time. It would have gone up to 180mph the way it was still accelerating but I ran out of room. :(

By the way I got the black one.

Thanks,
YellowF3

hey, i have purchased several bikes from the same dealership in my town. all from the same sales guy. i currently have a 02 954 and was looking to trade for a 1000rr, out the door including t-t-l 9,599. no freight or set up charges. this dealer is very good, they do very good service work and i have not had any problems with them.

I don't see where making a profit on an item that is for sale a problem. When was the last time someone asked to see the invoice on the milk you buy at the supermarket? For all of us that work for a living, we all want to get paid for the work we do. Why shouldn't the salesperson that spends 9 and 10 hrs. away from there family get paid for there time??? Anyway I hope that everybody stays on two wheels. Ride on!! 8)

I dont see why being an educated buyer is a bad thing.... You know why I think everyone should see this report, because every dealer I have talked price to has lied to me about what I am paying for. This report evens the ods for the buyer who works hard 9-10 hrs away from familty to have the money to buy these things..... IVN954 sounds like a dealer, I am all for fair profit but the key word there is FAIR.... Name one honest dealer you have ever dealt with because I cant think of any....

Food for thought......

that last dealer I dealt with raped me for over 4g between the three bikes I bought there. and also over charged my credit card by up to 700... I had to fight for somewhat justice and will never do business with them again.

well long as you have a honda 1000RR who cares about the price! but i wouldn't pay over 12k for it. You have to remember the out of state tax too.

With a dealer invoice of 9479, how can a dealer advertise 9399 OTD? I went to a closer dealer to see if he would match it and all could could do was rant and rave and badmouth the dealer saying its a scam, they are probably going mout of biz, the bikes are hot, they might be damaged etc....... I don't buy the badmouthing reasons, but it does seem odd that they can sell them for that little. any comments? ideas? insight? I'm ready to close a deal within the next week.

I got mine for $9163 OTD in NH. I would not listen to what a dealer tells you "dealer invoice" is. You'll never get an honest dealer invoice # from any dealer. Find the best deal you can and don't worry about the dealers reputation. Warranty work can be done at any dealership.

yeah i wasnt concerned with his double talk trying to turn me off of the other dealer, and i know we as consumers(even with supposed dealer invoice reports we can order online) dont really know what happens behind the scenes. I'm going to see one more dealer tomorrow in the am because he supposedly said he can match the price. Where in Nh if you dont mind me asking? when did you get it? was it mcnaults in manchester? Strangely enough I gave up riding 2 years ago, but the fire to ride now is as strong as it was when i first started.

I paid $12200 OTD yesterday on a '05 in Socal. I wonder what the dealer's invoice was in Socal if it is different. The MSRP including freight was $12999.

Thanks for the info- makes my decision that much harder though :(

I can't decide whether to get rid of the 954 and start modifying the 1000 or dump 4K into the 954 and keep it for another 4 years...

My Repsol was 11,9 OTD in Northeast Ohio
I figure since it's a limited production, they can and will get sticker price for it. If I didn't buy it, damn sure someone else would have. The dealer has no reason to cut a low deal on a Repsol.
Supply and Demand has alot to do with it.

I paid 8,500 used for mine. Bike had 322 miles on it. Has 5 year warranty. Purchased Jan of 05. Original owner purchased Aug of 04. Said he had taken his wife for a ride on it. She told him that she would not ride it again and if he knew what was good for him, that he better not either. He put it on Cycle Trader where I found it. He lived some 150 miles from me. He loaded in his pickup and delivered to my door. Bike is silver/black and I think it is great bike(I also ride 2 HD's and this is my first full sports bike). Ran at last Dyno Drags at Cycle Center of Fremont a couple of weeks ago. Best time for quarter mile was 143 mph at 9.6 seconds with reaction time of .533, 1/2 mile was 15.2 at 167 with reaction time of .522. Might have done better but forgot to shift to 6th gear until I hit the limiter hard(HD's only have 5 gears). .501 is perfect RT. Rear wheel hp came in about 143(have done zero tuning to bike since acquiring). These things are really a piss ant to get out of the hole without bogging engine, so once I learn this a little better I could do somewhat better. Great Bike but I have another issue that I need advice on. I will post it on another thread.

that is a great time, but we're talking about DYNO DRAGS.....there's no worry of wheelieing or wind drag seeing as how you never move, so you can let her rip :P

I'm sorry my bad, didn't catch the dyno part.My time at the track was 10.5 with about 900 miles on the bike bone stock with 220lb rider.I guess I just dynoed my bike and felt i came up short.Have my own dyno.145.5 but the air fuel still showed it was alittle rich,11.4 Needs pipe and pc111.Hey jimmy come ride with us over at palestine. There are 5 1rr's and maybe 20 other bikes mixed.May head to dallas to the sonic tommorrow. Last time we went to superbikes had a midnight dyno shootout 1pull 5 bucks.Maybe 300 bikes showed up we left at 2 am and they were still going strong.

that is a great time, but we're talking about DYNO DRAGS.....there's no worry of wheelieing or wind drag seeing as how you never move, so you can let her rip :PAbsolutely correct. Just ease out of the hole at 8000 rpm on the last yellow and you are off. No way that I could do this if the bike was not strapped down(would take a lot of balls and experience. Engine wants to stall, as the bike's rear wheel not only has the weight of the bike and the rider, but also the rear wheel is cinched down very tightly against the dyno drum, so you have no wheel spin at all as you would on pavement. On my 95 inch HD there is so much torque the motor does not even grunt, but on the Honda my first run I stalled the motor. Restarted and still ran a 11.5 at about 140. Almost all the sport bikes have the same problem getting off the line in dyno drags until they figure out that you must ease the clutch out as you increase the throttle. Supposedly the computer tied into the the dyno does calculate a number for wind resistance. The bike and rider are also weighed and that number is also plugged into the computer.
