Finally found out who makes those plastic pads that go on the sides of your tank.

I had a postsomewhere in 1000talk I think that I posted up that link and a picture of them too. says that a lot of snow-boarder uses them.

Awesome stuff imo. I will be getting them for whatever track bike I end up with next year....

Yup, my brothers and my wife have been using Stomp Pads on their boards for at least 6 or 7 years now.

Tried them; didn't like them; got rid of them. The big knobs didn't let me adjust body position as easily as I'd have liked.

There's also the Gripster, which I'd probably get if I try tank grip/protection material again.

funny; I saw a bunch of the Stomp pads at Rob's today when I went in there. at least I know I can get a deal on some of that stuff for my Morrow snow board. :)

Nicky, thanks for the input. Since the time ago that I found the stomp stuff and linked to it I've been throwing around the idea in my mind of the traction pads and like you and haven't been able to get myself to get that stuff yet. For the reasons that you mentioned.
But I wouldn't mind having just a fraction more friction for when I squeeze the tank on hard stops and for some other situations...

kinda liking the ice grip one from that site you linked up
